I just feel like George could stick up for Lennie a little bit more than he does around Curley and Slim. I also feel like George is scared of Curley because he didn't help Lennie when he was getting beat up all he did was yell at him to fight back instead of physically helping. But also he could have wanted to see is Lennie could fight for himself instead of someone always helping him , which George mad sure he did it by himself which could explain why no one was helping Lennie .

I was already aware of how strong Lennie could be but it was a bit surprising seeing Lennie be very aggressive to someone. George encouraged Lennie to fight back so I feel like that was also part of the reason Lennie decided to fight Curley. Lennie was helpless at the beginning of the fight and it was only until George said so that he decided to get hostile.
