The rising action of "Where the Red Fern Grows" involves the main character Billy, and his adventures with his hunting dogs.

The climax of the Novel is when the dogs are in a dog fight with the Mountain Lion. This is the turning point of the story because Old Dan and Little Ann sacrifice there life for Billy's. This is a turning point because it effects Billy greatly.

In "Where the Red Fern Grows," the falling action consists of when Billy's dogs die and Billy finding a sacred red fern at the grave sights of the dogs.

In the novel the resolution consists of Billy finding the Red Fern between Old Dan and Little Ann's grave, and Billy and his family moving into town. Billy finds out he doesn't need his dogs to fulfill his life.
