         <description><![CDATA[<div>Was there anything in the literature that tried to measure the "return on investment" effects of salary increases on teacher happiness? I know there's something like that overall (like for the metro-DC area, happiness tends to max-out at around $105 K/year, then from that point on extra money earned is less and less impactful on happiness). Have there been studies that you've found that try to quantify (in terms of salary) the effect of feeling trusted and valued?</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I loved your presentation on compensation. I have a question about if there was any discussion how does teacher compensation effect teacher turn over rate or level of teachers expertise in their specific subject area? I have seen in a few of my studies about my school or schools that are low income, teacher experience and expertise are lower, typically because the schools are tougher to teach in, but I wonder if there is any connection to compensation as well? </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I really enjoyed your mini-lesson! I have a comment rather than a question, which is that monetary compensation may not be everything, but it does at least partially define for many employees how much they are valued by an organization. It was a big morale boost at my current school when the headmaster announced that there would be no changes to teachers' salaries during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when we are all teaching online - especially because virtually every other school and organization was making significant pay cuts at the time. To teachers, that conveyed a great degree of trust in their loyalty and work ethic, which in turn motivated them to work harder. It had to have been a tough decision for the head of school, but it turned out to be a smart one, as staff retention for the new school year was much better despite many other schools being able to offer better compensation packages. The feeling that this was a school that would look after its staff in hard times was palpable.</div>]]></description>
