I often notice how it creates unfair systems where those with money or power get ahead, while ordinary people are left struggling. It frustrates me because corruption destroys trust we lose faith in leaders, in institutions, and sometimes even in each other. In the end, I see corruption not just as a political problem, but as a moral one. It challenges each of us to ask whether we are part of the problem or part of the solution.

Kristine joy F Sarceda

You’ve brought up some really significant points. Social issues like teenage pregnancy, corruption, and the overall struggle of everyday people to make a living are deeply interconnected. Often, the root causes go beyond the immediate problems and point to broader systemic issues like poverty, lack of education, and unequal access to resources.

Teenage pregnancy, especially in vulnerable communities, can be exacerbated by factors like substance abuse, lack of proper sex education, or societal pressures. And the way certain public figures misuse their power only makes things worse. Corruption by politicians not only drains resources that could be used to improve education, healthcare, and basic services but also undermines trust in the systems that are supposed to help people.

You’re right that solving these issues demands collective action. It's about coming together to promote empathy, equality, and respect for each other’s struggles. When people work together whether through community outreach, advocacy, or grassroots movements change is possible. Unity doesn't just mean collective action; it also means making space for the voices of the most marginalized, who often bear the brunt of social and political failings.

Poverty, people and communities well-being is impacted by these issue. I realize how interconnected we are when I consider these problems. One group's problems can have an impact on the stability of society as a whole. I think that social problems are influenced by both large-scale issues and individual decisions. For instance, poverty is brought on by a variety of factors, including a lack of access to quality education, employment opportunities, and equitable compensation. Contrary to what some may believe, it is not just because some people are lazy. In a similar vein, prejudice stems from both individual prejudice and the structures that permit it.

YAEL F. INES

‎What I lerned in English 9 is that there are many social issues that Filipinos face, such as poverty, many of who are strugling to eat becauses they are poor and have no money. I lerned why there is poverty. One of the reasons why there is poverty is that people are unemployed becauses they are not studying well, they cannot find a job. There are also those who give birth early, called teenage pregnancy. There are young mothers or young fathers who cannot support themsilvis. Or they have many children and they are still young, so they cannot support themsilvis. Our next lesson is text to text, which is when you connect one thing you read to another. For example, there is Spiderman, who has a similar character gagamboy. There is also text to world, which you compare to real life or like to real life. For example, pollution can be compared to climate change. Text to self, the last one, which you connect to yourself. You read it. For example, you read about the friendship between two enemies. You will remember your friend the you enemies bu't still have friends.

Ian Anthony C. Lorenzana

Our recent English classes have illuminated several key aspects of social issues through literature. I have discovered how authors use their work as critiques and reflections of unequal norms, injustices, and societal norms. The ability to dissect and examine texts that reflect on topics such as poverty, discrimination, and systemic barriers have deepened my understanding of social issues.
