History of the The Datai.

The Datai Langkawi is established in October 1993, at the time was managed by General Hotel Management (GHM), a hotel management company based in Singapore. This resort was very first project of GHM which subsequently came under the current management of Destination Resort & Hotel Sdn. Bhd on July 28' 2011. and the Datai Langkawi is the brainchild of architect " Kerry Hill ". who worked out a plan to ensure that the resort would be built without any large charge in landscape. Timber for the resort was obtained using elephant felled trees, thus eliminating the need of using heavy machinary. Such felled trees were replaced with newly planted trees. The resort has been build using Malaysian inspired architecture.

Introduction Housekeeping.
The Housekeeping Department is resposible for 124 rooms in the datai, has 5 section : Room, Laundry, Linen, Public area, and administration and this Department currently lead by Jamilah Awang as a Executive Housekeeper, and Ana May de Leon, Osman bin Ishak as the assistance. The laundry team is manage by Mizalatul Hijaz Mahmud as a Laundry Manager, and has a few Supervisor to lead the section.

Shortcoming :
1. Gossiping.
2. Colony during break time.
3. Lack of understanding with the other outlet.
4. Lack of comunication skills with the other department.
5. Inconsistent to do the task while supervisor away.

Possible Solution :

1. Focus and concentrate while doing the job, to avoid doing grouping.
2. To arrange the staff personally for break time, not grouping to avoid chatting each other.
3. To do more cross training inter department.

Established in October 1993,[3] The Datai Langkawi was at the time managed by General Hotel Management (GHM), a hotel management company based in Singapore. This resort was the very first project of the GHM which subsequently came under the current management of Destination Resorts & Hotels Sdn. Bhd[4] on 28 July 2011.

The Datai Langkawi is the brainchild of architect Kerry Hill[5] who worked out a plan to ensure that the resort would be built without any large change in landscape. Timber for the resort was obtained using elephant felled trees,[6] thus eliminating the need of using heavy machinery. Such felled trees were replaced with newly planted trees. The resort has been built using Malaysian inspired architecture.

1) The datai is established on 23rd October 1993 with 124 rooms currently before closing and surrounding by 10 millions years virgin rain forest, Situated at teluk datai. Attractive location and the beach is on of the top 10 beach in the world. Datai won few awards of prestige. And also been won as worlds best resort. Didier leffort is interior designer of datai.

2) Introduction of datai housekeeping. The housekeeping is a back bone of datai. Lead by Mrs.Jamila awang runs with more or less 100 eployees overall. And the housekeeping is devided into 3 sections which is laundry, Public area and room devision. Moto of housekeeping is cleanliness.Here is basic chart of housekeeping from
