These links will take you to a website called Khan Academy. This website has videos that walk you through how to do similar problems you will see on your homework. IN ADDITION to these videos, I still recommend you read the pages right before the assignment as they will have examples that are exactly like the homework. This gives you two methods to learn. <br><br>TURNING IN<br>To turn in your assignments, write your answers on a Google Docs page and share it with me. Please make sure the "title" or "headline" is the date of the assignment WHEN it was assigned. It is good that this is a review, however your new challenge is to be able to identify which three methods to us: Substitution, Elimination or Graphing. <br><br><strong>Pay specific attention to Examples 1,2,3,4 and 5. Yes, they do them for you, but on the right side it explains why they chose what they chose in numbered steps. Example 2, the first step says "Since solving for any of the variables would result in a fraction, use elimination.          <description><![CDATA[<div>In this lesson, you'll start seeing the famous equations people show their younger siblings to brag about how smart they are. Because these problems look like random letters and numbers all thrown together. Really we are just adding division to what we did yesterday. REMEMBER, when you see division sign, it just turns everything into a big fraction.<br><br>I think that the way this lesson does the examples should be sufficient. Notice that they color code and section things off to make the problem look less jumbled and show you how they are doing it. Reading those examples is key in this lesson. REMEMBER: when you have a negative exponent, it moves up or down from wherever it was.          <description><![CDATA[<div>BACK TO GRAPHS!!<br>Luckily this one is easy. The one thing I want you to pay attention to on here is "TRANSLATIONS" meaning moving a graph up, down, left, and right. And what part of the equation tells us it moves. In this instance we are looking at Parabolas, which is the type of graph that variables with an exponent of 2 gives us. <br><br>Your biggest help will be the charts on pages 346 and 347. There are two. It's important to know what adding or subtracting in parentheses does as well as adding and subtraction outside of parentheses.          <description><![CDATA[<div>In my experience, the next two lessons can be confusing to many. I understand that. We are combining two confusing concepts together, Exponents and Functions then seeing how they graph. <br><br>Here is what I believe to be the best way to approach and prepare for these two lessons: I will assign you a section of videos to watch. In TOTAL there are 22 videos. A decent portion of them are "models" or examples. Feel free to use these examples or watch portions of the example videos. <br><br>Since there are many videos on this topic, I will allow you 2 days to get these done. All I need from you is the patience and discipline to maybe divide this into 10 videos a day for these two days in exchange for me not giving you homework. This IS your homework. Think of this like a class lecture for today and tomorrow.          <description><![CDATA[<div>We will not be covering the last lesson 8.6. I do not like the setup  of the questions and lesson. And with how specific this lesson is, I feel the time spent in other areas of Algebra would be time better spent. <br><br>However, I do want to review some of the more important sections in the Chapter 8 Review.<br><br>FIRST: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt2fdy3zrZU">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt2fdy3zrZU</a><br><br>This is a very good video reviewing one of the first lessons in Chapter 8. It reviews important aspects of Algebra, specifically with simplifying exponents with multiple variables. <br><br>Also, some of the questions want the entire answer in the numerator, which means moving variables with exponents to the TOP. When we do that, we change the polarization (negative/positive) of that variables exponent. If its "X raised to the positive 5"  on the bottom, move it to the top and change it to "X raised to the negative 5". If the question wants it left in positive exponential form, that means it wants all of the exponents as positive numbers, which means you will have some on top and some on bottom potentially. <br><br>HOMEWORK: pg. 366 #1-16, #21-25<br><br>DUE: 4/23 by 11:59 pm</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing good!<br><br>This lesson many students see as being somewhat rough. It's a lot of information. Hopefully by now you know how to determine the difference between the different "-nomials" like Binomials and Polynomials. If not, go refresh yourself. <br><br>In this lesson, we focus on multiplying different types of polynomials together. This type of math and problems, in my opinion, are what most people think of when they think of Algebra 1. <br><br>There are two things I want you to remember for this lesson. Do not forget the idea of the "Distribution Property". Remember when you have a number outside of a parenthesis with nothing between it, it is considered multiplication and must be distributed to EVERYTHING inside the parenthesis. Most of your answers will be in this form: <br><br>(a + blah) (a + blahblah)<br><br>Lets look at 1: a^2 + 8a + 15<br><br>We know to get a^2 we need to multiplay a together so: <br><br>(a     )  (a     )<br><br>is where we would start according to foil. <br><br>We also know, that the last number is 15, so we need two numbers that multiply to 15. However the middle number is 8, so we need to numbers that add up to 8 as well as multiplying to 15. <br><br>5 and 3 do this. Therefore:<br><br>(a   5)  (a   3)<br><br>So we have the multiplication down, now the signs on these two would determine what middle number we get. In this case we want a positive 8. So we need to add these two together, and therefore we want them both positive: <br><br>(a + 5) (a + 3) would be your answer for #1.
