In this chapter they had a vote of if rats or mice were 'comrades', more than a few animals voted yes. But there shouldn't have been a vote, if they were an animal shouldn't they automatically be comrades? Something like that, maybe that was a small hint at oppression.

In chapter 1, oppression is shown when old major points out how each of the animals are poorly treated, the animals endure a lot of labor and are only getting the bare minimum to keep them alive back. When major points out how the cows have probably given more gallons of milk to the enemy then what should've been given to feeding calves. When major says how the hens are used only to lay eggs and there are more eggs being sold to the enemy to bring in money for jones and his men then there are hatched chickens. When old major says to clover how clovers bore four fos and they were sold instead of being the support and pleasure of the old age which clover will never see. When old major says how the animals are overworked and are only used for the hard labor, even if they are extremely strained they're still put to these incredible hard tasks every day.

In chapter 1 oppression was being shown because the animals are being mistreated. They had been working so hard for them to receive little in return by Mr. Jones. The animals had seen all the food that the humans were eating while they only got a little bit just to survive. The animals have no control of their life and are only there to work and once seen no longer useful they are to be killed.

What I learned about the word oppression in the book is how the animals are getting treated unfairly. For example, the old major shared his speech about how man takes advantage of the animals for them to produce and make money off them to sell the products and through all that, the animals still get treated cruel just for for them to get killed at the end.

In chapter 1, like, Old Major is all like, "Yo, these animals are getting totally messed up!" They work super hard but only get just enough to stay alive.

He talks about how the cows are giving way more milk to the humans than they should, like, that's just wrong! And the hens? They’re just there to lay eggs, and way more go to the humans than to make baby chicks.

Then he tells Clover that her four foals got sold off instead of chilling with her in her old age, which is so sad! Old Major is basically saying these animals are working their tails off every day, even when they’re totally exhausted, and it’s just not fair!
