We have all heard the story about Harriet Tubman and how she saved so many people, but have you heard from where she came from… Harriet Tubman was born around 1820 on a plantation in Dorchester County, Maryland. Her birth name was Araminta Ross but her parents called her “minty”. Harriet had eight brothers and sisters, slavery eventually pushed all of them apart. Harriet was around the age of seven when she was rented out to a planter. She was later rented out to be a field hand but said she south rather work indoor chores. I chase Tubman because she was a strong woman and deserves to be known and talked about everyday.
