Phosphate: occurs naturally in the ground. It was used for cattle feed and fertilizer. The mining of Phosphate turned into a valuable business, and Florida was a major supplier. 

Hotel: Both Henry Plant and Henry Flagler built grand hotels. 

Cigars: Tobacco has been growing in Florida since the Civil War. In the 1800's cigar factories began to manufacture cigars in Florida. 

Timber: Northwest Florida some of the Central parts of the state, and much of the northeast coast of Florida have abundant forest. The wood was used to build masts on ships and for building houses. It was also used for turpentine and paint thinner. 

Cattle: Organized cattle ranching  in Florida began in 1565 when the Spanish brought the first cattle to the area. They supplied beef to the confederate army. 

Citrus: Like the cattle industry, the citrus industry has been in Florida since 1565. The Spanish planted the first orange trees and the business began to grow. 

Tourism: Tourist wanted to see the sights and escape the cold. The tourism industry used colorful posters to attract visitors to Florida.Florida's industry was growing. Many grand hotels were in Florida, they were built by Henry Flagler and Henry Plant.
