This needs an urgent response because people of different race, gender and age are vulnerable to this. This contradicts the main mission of SDG 16, as it disrupts justice by violating human rights. While the pandemic restricts physical interaction, traffickers use the online platform instead to prey on victims like children, considering that education is already virtually accessible. Hence, online grooming is rampant. 

Furthermore, the domestically-abused are in worse situations, for they have closer contact with their trafficker. Lockdowns just all the more conceal the oppressed from the public.

President Trump signed Executive Order 13903 on Combating Human Trafficking and Online Child Exploitation in the United States during a White House Summit on Human Trafficking. The Executive Order establishes a White House employee position dedicated solely to issues related to combating human trafficking entering, leaving, and within the United States, as well as coordinating with personnel from other parts of the President's Executive Office, such as the Office of Economic Initiatives and the National Security Council (NSC).

On June 9, 2020, the White House appointed a Special Advisor for Human Trafficking to coordinate White House efforts on human trafficking policy, coordinate interagency efforts on human trafficking, and advise the DPC on human trafficking policy, which complied with Section 2 of the President's Executive Order.
