"If you're not trained in CPR, then provide hands- only CPR. That means uninterrupted chest compressions of about 100 a minute until paramedics arrive. You don't need to try rescue breathing." (page 9)

"If you're well-trained and confi- dent in your ability, begin with chest compressions instead of first checking the airway and doing rescue breathing.

•Check if the person is unconscious
•If the person looks unconscious, shake their shoulder and ask, "are you OK?"
•If the person doesn't respond, one should call 911 or the local emergency number. If alone, have immediate access to a phone; call 911 before beginning. If the person is suffocating, quickly perform CPR, then call the local emergency number.

A year ago, my family and I ate at the Cheesecake Factory for my aunt's birthday. I was heading to the restroom, and I suddenly heard some really terrible coughing towards the direction I was headed to. People started to hoarde around the coughing person. But since I'm short, I couldn't really tell what was happening. The place was total chaos. When people started whispering one after another, I realized how bad the situation was. It was my first time experiencing someone choking and getting CPR; it was all new to me. I was worried for that person.

(He's alive) (And hopefully healthy).
