Why should we try to save the oceans and marine life?
The oceans are part of the reason that mankind is able to live on planet Earth. Up until today more than three billion people depend on the oceans because the oceans drive global systems around the world. For example rainwater, drinking water, weather, climate coastlines, some of our food and the air we breath are provided and regulated by the world's oceans.
Concerning economy the oceans are vital for trade and transportation, as well as coastal resources and industries are estimated at 3 trillion US-Dollars markt value per year.

sources

Approximately 71 percent of our planet is covered in water. You could ask yourself why that is necessary or if that does us any good. It does. Not only are the oceans a great attraction for tourists and locals but a lot of humans depend on them. Fisheries around the world employ over 200 million people. These people depend on the oceans not only regarding the fact that they drive global systems that are vital for any human on this planet but also because their job depends on the oceans. So if it wasn't for those 332,519,000 cubic miles of water we would've 200 million more unemployed people on our planet.
Oceans around the world also absorb a little over 30 percent of the produced carbon dioxide. Which means that they slow down global warming which we all know is something that needs to be stopped to ensure the the life of mankind on this planet.
But not only humanity depends on the oceans. Oceans are vital for biodiversity which means that they kindly host around 200,000 identified species or more. The actual number is estimated to lie in the millions.

sources

Scientists also thrive to increase scientific knowledge to develop better research strategies and marine technology to ensure the possibility of life in oceans.
To ensure the economical benefit for all the fisheries a provided access for small fisheries to marine resources and markets is planned.
The end goal of enhancing the conservation and sustainable use of oceans is going to be enforced by creating laws on these issues.

source

Water pollution usually also leads to unsanatairy and unhygenic conditions. Water usually acts as a purge in the body but when the water is polluted, it is unable to remove germs and turns to affect the human health in a negative way rather than a positive. This and the consuming of infected food and drinks can cause diseases like stomach infections because infections are passed on from the fish to the human.

But not only that causes diseases. Infected bodies have weaker immune systems and are more likely to become a victim to diseases that are carried by mosquitos or other insects. These will effect and infected Body even more and can turn into lie threatening diseases just as Malaria and Dengue.

source

There are so man possible solutions for this complex topic that it would blow up this page.
But to name a few there is the solution of properly treating the substances before releasing it into the waters. For example the
wastewater that is released
into the ocean by industries needs to be treated by so called "pre-treatment facilities" before it is released into the oceans.
Besides that, there are several technologies they are testing that are released into the water to clean up already existing garbage like "the seabin".

source
