Identifying learning experiences to support speaking and listening
This activity will give you further opportunities to identify relevant learning experiences for oral language development that might be used for Assessment 2: Oral presentation, as well as to consider how these experiences could be extended to better cater for student diversity.

Part 1: Identify a learning experience
Based on your eText reading, identify an example of a learning experience that supports speaking and/or listening. In your posting, you should:

describe the learning experience

explain the context for the learning experience - is it for preschool or primary level children? Is it targeted at a specific age?

list any props or other support items required

justify the value of the experience by making reference to:

the EYLF or AC

relevant theoretical perspectives, in particular the emergent perspective

the particular aspect of language that the experience addresses (as per the material covered last week).

Part 2: Extend your learning experience
Not all students are the same. Within a single class or room, there may be students with different abilities or from different cultural backgrounds. Explain how you might extend your identified learning experience to cater for such diversity.

Part 3: Present your experience in an audio format
If you haven't yet practised creating an audio presentation and sharing it via SoundCloud, now is an excellent time to give it a try.

As with last week, take the time to provide constructive feedback, and think about how you might improve your own oral presentation skills.
