Most of my connections were made when I read about the part where August sat alone on his first day (49) because on the first day of 5th grade I remember sitting alone until I met some of the people in my grade. Just like Auggie met Summer.

The part of this book that made the best image in my mind was pages 265-269. August and Jack went into the forest to go to the bathroom at an outdoor school movie night. They ran into this group of 7th graders from a different school. One of the kids started to call Auggie names and make fun of his face. Then Amos and some other people from Auggies school came and started pushing and fighting the 7th graders. August and his friends started to run away but the 7th graders kept chasing them. They finally ended up in a corn field after they had lost the group of 7th graders. That's when Auggie realized he lost his hearing aids. They looked for them for awhile but they couldn't fund them, so they went back to the movie. This made a very vivid image in my head as I was reading it.

August was born with a disease that made his face look different than most everybody else (1-3). He undergoes many surgeries so he can stay alive and look as normal as possible (2-5). He is home schooled until 5th grade when his parents decide he should go to real school. He has a rough year but makes a few friends, has many adventures, wins an award and experiences many new things he wouldn't have if he had not gone to school.

August, the main character of Wonder, has changed a lot throughout the book. For example in pages 265-269 August becomes more open to more people like Amos and Jack because they helped August get away from the group of 7th graders. He also changed when he got an award at his schools ceremony, he became happier and more supported by his school and teachers. (304)

The theme of Wonder is to keep pushing through. It is also to not let negative things get in your way in life. To be kind because you never know whats hiding behind someones smile. They might need a friend or just a nice gesture. The author of this book is trying to tell readers to not judge people by what they look, but their personality and how they act when you get to know them

R.J Palacio, the author of Wonder, had a very unique writing style. She has the book divided up into a few sections, in each section a different person is narrating (1-80, 82-187, etc.). She also uses a style of writing that makes you so involved in the book. You become so attached to each character and when the last page comes you don't want the book to end. She writes as if you a someone watching all of this happen. Its like you are in the book seeing and feeling everything happen.

My opinion on Wonder is t at its a very well written book with a very good theme. I like how it has such a sad story but at the same time it makes you so happy. One thing I think could of been done better is explaining more about the dad and his personality. But overall I really likes it.
