  1. Having all members in a community contribute to change and action. In some schools, it can be difficult to have all stakeholders involved in the process.

  1. Common humanity is a key feature of sharing commitment.
  2. Together the learning community lives peacefully.
  3. We need to prioritize people and relationships.

  1. In PYP schools, we have always stressed action and given some voice to students. 
  2. Some teachers have an easier time than others when it comes to developing student and colleague relationships. 
  3. How do other schools foster relationships between the stakeholders?

  1. Relationships should be and will be dynamic. How do make sure we stay supportive?



Stance or Suggestions for moving forward
  1. Collaboration exists with mutual trust and respect. People must trust each other and show respect for differences and uniqueness. 
  2. Workshop leaders and site visitors must model mutual trust and respect for each other. We have to trust each other to do our part and work together cooperatively. 

Excitements
  1. Value each members contribution.
  2. Students and Teachers work in partnerships.
  3. Students and peers support each other through collaborating and taking collective action.

  1. We need to find ways to collaborate more as IBEN members. Facebook groups and blogs help, as do trainings. 
  2. We will need to work to have our world community collaborate. communicating with other schools can be a challenge. 
Worries
  1. How can we have true partnerships between school and parents. In a large school, how can parents feel that their voices are heard?
Stance or Suggestions
  1. We need to seek ways to have all members of the  school community feel that we want and value their opinions as we collaboratively plan learning for students.

Excitements  
  1. The emphasis on agency pushes us to have collective ownership for learning. I already am seeing students more involved in collaboratively planning the learning environment.

Needs
  1. Dynamic Learning-I like this term as it is what every child needs. They should not be bored if they are in a dynamic classroom  where each child is valued and learning is targeted to meet needs.
Worries
  1. I believe in reflection and have seen how this helps students learn. I worry about our testing culture and ways that we can make sure that true learning is not stifled by teaching to the test. 
  2. I worry about labeling learners. I saw an interesting video recently about students who were labeled "gifted" and students who were not given this label. Both students expressed negative ways this impacted them throughout their lives.
  3.  I worry about assigning any label to students. 
Stance or Suggestions
  1. All students should be offered opportunities to maximize potential.
Excitements
  1. The updated information about grouping. I liked the clear examples for grouping within the class that included pair and small groups, literacy and numeracy strands flexible grouping based on pre-assessment and between class learning as needed.

  1. We need to consider the different viewpoints around health and well-being. 
  2. We can't impose our values on others. 
Worries
  1. How can help children take ownership for their health and well-being in the current world we live? 
  2. Many children spend hours playing video games and eating food that is not healthy. With the promotion of student agency and students having a voice, choice and ownership for their health, hopefully students will come to understand the importance of balance. 
Stance or Suggestions for moving forward
  1. We need to create a supportive climate-not competitive.
Excitements 
  1. I am excited to see students take ownership for their health and well-being. 
  2. The emphasis will remain on the attributes of the learner profile and international mindedness.
