Annie Dillard is fascinated by microscopes, because she read the book, " The Field Book of Ponds and Streams." After reading this several times, she longed for  microscope. Her parents bought her a microscope kit for Christmas. After her tedious exploration for the amoeba, she finds one. She then tells her parents but they lack interest in her find.
