What is hunger? Hunger is a feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by lack of food, coupled with the desire to eat. I know that nobody likes the feeling of hunger, but have you ever felt the real pain of hunger before? I'm not talking about the how you missed breakfast or lunch hunger, I'm talking about the type of hunger when you haven't ate in days. If you don't like even missing one meal a day, imagine how one of the 795 million people in this world suffering from hunger or starvation feels every day.

My question to you is, have you ever really felt the pain of hunger? Whenever I tell my mom that I'm starving, she says "Have you eaten anything today?”. Every time I respond with "Yes 'mam ", so she says "Then don't say that you are starving, just say you would like something to eat." What she meant when she told me that was you, don't know what starving feel like until you haven't ate in days. See hunger isn't a feeling we have when want something to eat, it is like an emotion that words can't even describe to the person who are suffering from the pain of an empty stomach day-after-day.

There was an event in the book very similar to the conversation I had with my mother. On page 89 of the hard back edition of the book, Jonas was thinking about how when he was a four and he had said "I'm starving." Then immediately he had been taken aside for a brief lesson in language precision. Overall the conversation was about how he had speaking a lie because no one in his community had never starved. So to say "starving" was speaking a lie even if it was unintentionally. So in this book they address the issue of hunger by making sure food gets delivered to every dwelling at meal time. If then happened in our world then hunger won’t be a problem.

See this is why we shouldn’t think about ourselves because, someone out there is actually starving

Lowis Lowry is on the same boat as me, we both view hunger as a problem in this world and it can be fixed. If everybody actually put some thought into it and tried to make a difference, I believe that hunger will no longer be a problem in this world.

I like the fact that in this book everybody got some food and, they make sure that nobody is left out. I also like that the parents don’t have to go out searching for food to cook for dinner. But one thing I don’t like about dinner being served is, how does the cooks know whether someone is allergic to something or not until they eat the dinner. Also how

One of the causes of social tensions is hunger, when people finds out that someone is suffering from hunger then began to treat that person differently. Now what would you feel like if you were the one in their shoes, and people started to treat you differently because they found out your biggest secret. We need to take into consideration of how others can be feeling. Hunger is something that we cannot see or hear, but it is invisible and silent. Think about it, if you are in a world of people you don’t know, would you just go telling people all of your personal problems thinking that they are just going to be fixed right away. These people they don’t know how to just come out straight forward and tell people that they were suffering from hunger. Trust me, if it were me I would have a hard time telling even the people that are very close to me something that serious.

Think about it...
