When an earthquake occurs, the geosphere becomes shaky and the earthquake creates ground rupture, landslides, avalanches, fires, it destroys forests and it also causes severe building damage. The most common landslides that occur when caused by an earthquake are rock falls. Rock falls are a form of gravity potential energy and kinetic energy because they get push down with force.

Hydrosphere

While an earthquake is occurring and there are severe building damages, it may modify groundwater flow from springs by causing expansion and contraction of the aquifer from which the spring flows. For example, when some rocks fall into the ocean, it causes the ocean to rise. This shows how the geosphere is interacting with the hydrosphere. Not just that, but tsunamis result from a sudden vertical shift in the ocean floor, commonly where tectonic plates meet, that can be caused by an earthquake. As the depth of water decreases near land the height of the wave increases many times, and is capable of causing massive and large destruction of hundreds or thousands of miles from the site of the earthquake. This leans toward kinetic energy because kinetic energy is an energy that is used in the process of execution such as movement. Because this energy, water flows and moves.

Earthquakes effect the atmosphere because gas emissions from the ground release toxic gases that are released into the atmosphere. Earthquakes also create dust and debris. These toxic gases rise to the atmosphere which add to the air people breath from which is menacing. The atmosphere is interacting with the biosphere because of all the toxic gases that rise up into the air and surround the living things. The toxic gases causes many living things to die. The atmosphere in this condition falls under the thermal (heat) energy because of infrared radiation which makes our bodies feel warm. Most of the solar radiation is consumed by the atmosphere; therefore, most of what reaches the earth's surface is radiated back into the atmosphere to become heat energy.

Whenever an earthquake occurs, all of the spheres get impacted in many different ways. Earthquakes take place on land (geosphere). When the earthquake occurs, it starts to shake the ground (kinetic energy). First, due to gravity and the harsh shaking, there are landslides that occur such as rock falls (geosphere). These damage buildings severely. It doesn’t only harm buildings, but it also kills living things and people (biosphere) because of the vivid shaking. Afterwards, gas emissions from the ground release toxic gases that are released into the atmosphere. Earthquakes also create dust and debris. These toxic gases rise to the atmosphere which add to the air people breath from which is menacing (atmosphere). This causes them to kill animals and destroy plants. The earthquakes also demolish plant life and cropping. Not just that, but it also destroys the ecosystem (biosphere). All of this causes a lot of trouble for all of the four spheres.
