The Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow

The Girl in Pieces was a very good book that had some very hard to talk about topics including self harm depression anxiety and many other mental health disorders and they were explained in a very good way. This book is about a girl who suffers from multiple different mental issues and self harms. at the beginning of the book she is just getting to the mental institute and is mute she spends some time there getting better and learning not to self harm then when she gets released she moves to Arizona to go live with a friend and then she gets a job and meets a guy named Riley, they start to date but that doesn't work very well and she relapses and tries to kill herself but then gets better and gets a job offer. I believe that the author did really good explaining depression and self harm. I liked how she showed how easy it is for someone with self esteem issues to get caught up with the wrong person and their own thoughts. She did a great job in my opinion showing how many different ways people can self harm , there are so many different ways to S-H than just cutting, I also really liked how she showed that it and was correct.I just overall like how she showed mental illnesses and showed how different people can react to it. one down side to her writing this book is that if people who do suffer from some of the mental illnesses mentioned in the book and don't know what triggers them reads it they could be triggered.

This book is the sequel to legend and it continues the story of June and Day. They are now on the run from the republic and are trying to find Days brother. They find a group called the patriots and to get their help they have to help execute the new elector. They thought it was the right thing to do but after June has to go and act like she didn't want to help Day escape she finds out that the patriots are run by the senators. Her and Day stop the execution they have to run from the patriots and they end up in the colonies but then an old friend shows up and tells them they have to come back cause the Republic citizens are going against the new elector. After Day announces his support of the elector he finds out he is sick. Day doesn't tell June about this but he breaks up with her.

I thought this was a really good book and a great way to continue the story of those two. I think that in the third book they may face more conflicts with the colonies and with Days sickness. June may start to fall in love with the new elector.

The book is following the life of Thomas from his point of view and he is sent into a maze because there is a deadly virus and a group called wcked is doing human experiments on the young because they are the only ones immune to the virus. They then send up terresa who is the only girl and say shes the last one ever. So the people of the maze decied they need to find a way out and they do by figuring out that the maze has a hole where the grievers, giant robotic insects that have venom that will kill you if you get stung, come out of.

I really liked this book because it was an action pact book that had some drama in it. I only disagree that there was never any other girls they sent up before terresa but I understand that it makes the plot a little bit more interesting and will most likely have a part in the next books.
