For Motivation/Springboard, the teacher will play different emotion sounds, and students will pick the matching image on the board. A random student’s answer will be chosen to unlock the correct image. This will lead to a short discussion on verbal and nonverbal cues, where the teacher explains the difference between verbal (words) and nonverbal (actions, tone, expressions) communication.

DIY Speaker

For our instructional tool, we will use the main speaker to support students in developing their listening skills. It will play pre-recorded instructions and audio clips that will be used during the motivation and abstraction parts of the lesson. This allows students to listen closely to tone, emotion, and clarity in each audio. Using the speaker also makes instructions clear, consistent, and engaging, helping students understand verbal and nonverbal cues more effectively while keeping their attention focused on the task.

For Activity Proper, the teacher will play an audio recording of the instructions through the main speaker. The students will then create a comic or drawing strip that shows gestures or actions to represent nonverbal cues and written dialogues to show verbal cues of communication. This activity will allow students to apply what they have learned by expressing emotions and messages through both words and actions.

They will then create their own dialogues that include different verbal cues to match the images.
