<title>in the present situation social proximity is actually at risk, this includes house sharing, flat sharing, hospitality. Going at the root of the problem means we really have to get into open-localism: challenging disconnection from our living spaces, as well as disconnection from the places we visit by travelling, that is created by an event like COVID, which hypermobility amplifies. On the opposite with open-localism, we can get into social rapprochement.</title>

<title>I think a cultural change has to happen in order to upscale concepts as collective ownership or Co-housing etc. Living in Sweden, there are a lot of shared spaces as common washing-machines etc. from post modernist times but the culture of ownership leaded to more and more people having their own facilities in their flats. The common machines are getting used less and less, flats get bigger instead.</title>

<title>in my research (in Finland) i have found that anti-speculative collective housing projects often get support from municipalities (often because they align with various urban sustainability agendas) but then when it comes to plot allocation and pricing the projects face difficulties. To understand this though I found we actually need to zoom out to different scales to see how the state has created reforms in urban governance e.g. that cities need to compete against each other and generate income from land rents and also - in Europe - how this is related to EU demands. How do we engage with municipalities in these kinds of complex situations and better support collective alternatives?</title>

<title>as many of you know vienna is really famous for it&#39;s social housing, recently the city decided that 2/3 of new building properties have to be social housing. This is very important BUT it would be a very big step forward if they would also regulate the private housing sector.. otherwise the space distribution is still unfair. </title>

<title>there have been some studies into how collective housing can actually unintentionally contribute to gentrification in urban areas - by raising the land rents of surrounding properties because they are often quite &#39;cool&#39;.
