These findings help because by further understanding cell processes like mitosis we can know better how cancer forms and what it does to the cell. By knowing this, we may be able to find proteins, like the Ki-67 which slows down the cancer cells, allowing more time for doctors to target the cancer cells. The ribosomal protein I19 can play a large role in the discovery of cancer cells and can possibly lead to the discovery of a cure for cancer.

Ki-67 is a protein that carries the PP1. RepoMan acts in the same manner. Usually, Ki67 is used to locate the tumor, and see how far it has progressed. However, with the PP1, we could slow down the Mitosis process, especially in the Anaphase. Another is PP1 Gamma is another, although scientists don't exactly know how it responds to cancer. The reaction however is unique to the PP1 Gamma. This opens the opportunity to see what happens.
Using the PiCnIc, one can take in the patient's data, such as medical history and genetics, and uses that to create a "map" of what might happen to the tumor. This will allow scientists to better understand what they need to do in order to remove the tumor. However it can also be used to study cancer, seeing how cancer acts among a group, and then it would make predicting it even easier. However,

The PiCnIc program helps scientists better understand the path that cancer is likely to take. Thus the scientists are able to treat the patient more efficiently. Basically, the PiCnIc program will help scientists and doctors be able to track the future destination of tumors/cancer in other places. As of right now, it is very difficult for scientists to try to figure out where the cancer is going to go. With the new program, scientists will be able to much easier find and treat any kind of cancer. "PiCnIc produces maps of cancer progression in much the same way historical explorers drew maps of the Earth without satellite imaging. The program, like the explorers, draws tiny regional maps and then pieces them together like a puzzle."(KIM).

If we know more about cancer and mitosis... the better chance we have of understanding how to stop it. Knowledge is power. And if we know more about the pathways... the better we'll know where to try to stop a problem. Also,if we find out how to use the silver bullet for cancer... the map can be expanded. The silver bullet uses viruses and takes out the "destroy" command and uses it more like a UPS to deliver proteins. The better we expand our research on how to innovate and enhance the silver bullet (and other methods of potential cancer prevention) and ways of observing mitosis, the more we can get done in cancer prevention research.
