THE ART EVENT I WENT TO WAS A ballet performance based off of midsummer night’s dream. I wanted to see this because it was a Shakespeare based ballet which showed all of the aspects of the Midsummer's night’s dream play. It showed the key points which happen in the play and will show what are the most important parts. This showed me that I do not need to include every single detail in plays and to do with Shakespeare. The scenes flowed effortlessly into one another and it flowed smoothly the entire way through. This did become slightly confusing at points as to where In the play they are. This could have been improved by making it more obvious with what is going on currently in the play and where about in the play they are. In my opinion, somebody could have come across the stage to show the current act and scene that they are recreating. This inspired my project as it gave me an idea about Shakespeare and about the plays that he has done. This allowed me to write more about the Shakespeare link in the emerge festival. This was because they expressed Shakespeare well especially through the costumes and makeup that they were wearing. This showed me more about Shakespeare and allowed me to realise what Shakespeare is all about and the ballet expressed the play extremely well. . From this I was able to learn about all different ways that Shakespeare can be expressed rather than the way hat I used to see it. I used to think that Shakespeare could only be shown through a play but know I know that it can be shown through lots of different methods.

By Lucy Purvis
