         <description><![CDATA[<div>S3 Crime and Punishment - Morality Unit<br>Literacy<br>Pupils have been working in groups, each group has selected a type of capital punishment. Using an information sheet as a starting point they have then broadened their knowledge through Internet research. Each group will now peer teach, to a class audience, about their chosen form of capital punishment. The information they present to the class must have good detail but be easy to understand, groups should have a method of checking understanding for their section.</div>]]></description>

Pupils have adopted strategies used by the NHS to introduce themselves to potential employers, practised mock interview questions and undertaken a range of team building exercises to build confidence and evaluate their skills. This has culminated in a mock interview with a local employer. The 'real life' context of timekeeping, organisation, presenting a positive personal image and taking on board constructive criticism. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Literacy<br><br></div><div>S2 have been studying ‘Earth Forces.’ While watching Dante’s Peak, they collected notes under different headings about the volcanic eruption e.g. what he area look liked before and after, how did they know the eruption was going to take place. Once they had finished note taking, they were given a list of different paragraphs their report had to include; for each paragraph they had to create a topic sentence to help structure their report. They then produced a report using their notes and topic sentences.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Literacy<br><br>As part of our S3 Trade and Globalisation Unit, pupils investigated the working conditions people experience at the hands of Transnational Corporations. Each pupil researched a TNC using a fact-file provided (differentiated sheets available) and collected 10 bullet points of information and added these to their research sheet. In groups of 4, pupils would then share their knowledge with the group. At the end, all pupils should have information on 4 TNCs. From this information pupils were asked to create a poster to warn shoppers of the poor working conditions experienced.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Literacy<br><br>While investigating the causes and problems with Child Labour in the Chocolate Industry, pupils watched an hour long documentary called The Dark Side to Chocolate. This documentary focused on child labour in the Ivory Coast. Pupils were given an A3 note taking sheet and asked to take notes on key areas of the documentary. At the end of the documentary, pupils worked in groups to fill in areas they may have missed through group discussion. Using this information pupils were asked to create a piece of work to show what they had learned. Some chose an essay, others a poster, leaflet and so on.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
