In 1783, a peace treaty was signed between Great Britain and the U.S. which would say that George Washington did his duty in the war. He would gave up his command of the army in order to returned to Mount Vernon his land that he owned to go back to being a farmer and family man. But in 1787, he was asked to attend the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia and head the committee to create a new constitution. The delegates that attended the convention said that he was the most qualified man to become the nation’s first president. So in January 7, 1789, he won presidency with John Adams as the second-largest number of votes, to which he became the nation’s first vice president. Along with secretary of state Thomas Jefferson and secretary of treasury Alexander Hamilton. Washington would try to set an example of fairness, prudence and integrity through out his presidency. He served only two terms as president and the nation loved him he was considered on of the best presidents.
