The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) is a pipeline that transports over 500K barrels of crude oil out of the Bakken fields in North Dakota. The controversy around the pipeline has to do with the construction of the pipeline near the Standing Rock tribe's grounds and the chance of a leak. The pipeline was denied by the Obama administration but it was then approved after President Trump took office.
