         <description><![CDATA[<div>Explanation - Archduke Franz Ferdinand is assassinated by the Serbian terrorist organization "The Black Hand" because the Serbians wanted to become a part of the new Serbian nation.<br><br>Significance - Austria - Hungary (nation of the Archduke) threatened to declare war on Serbia, who was close allies with Russia (who in turn got angry), who was allies with Britain, France, Italy, and the US, and consequently this angered the rest of them.</div>]]></description>
