In France, a fundraiser was launched from 1875 to 1880, many private companies participated.
In 1878 the head of the statue was exhibited on the field of Mars (in Paris) during the universal exhibition.
The total funding for the statue was 1 million francs.

In the United States, in order to finance the pedestal, Joseph Pulitzer (founder of New-York newspapers) offers in exchange for one dollar of which the name of the person be written on the front page ofthe newspaper. 
During the century of independance day of United States in Philadelphie, Bartholdi exhibits the arm with torch to show around, and ha created a shop for sale objects and marketing pictures. All of which helped immensely.

3)The United States financed and built the base instead of resting the Statue of Liberty. There was more difficulty in getting the project funded on this side of the Atlantic because the Americans did not really see the point. The base, in fact, was as expensive as the statue itself. The statue is on Bedloe's island, which had a small military fort for the defense of the port of New York. The most complicated in this project is that the statue must be hollow and withstand winds and storms, so you have to make an internal framework.
Bartholdi starts from a small model of the statue and gradually enlarges it so as not to be mistaken in the dimensions.
The site lasts 8 years and requires 350 employees.

Between 1881 and 1884 it was assembled in the heart of Paris. When it was finished there was a ceremony to formalize the gift of France to the United States, July 4, 1884 (day of independence of the United States). It was not until 8 months later, in February 1885 that it began to dismantle it into 350 pieces which took place in 210 cases. the french were removed from the project they did not have the same conception of the work they wnted to redo the statue to the original ,when the americans did not hesitate to sacrifie a small part to get involved in the work.

the most important point is the renovation of the internal structure.
the wrought iron beams rusted and replaced them with stainless steel,
they remade the staircase which threatened to fall which is not made to welcome so many public.

the most problematic are when it was necessary to change copper hooks on the  beams.

work we also wear on the outher envelope of the statue:
the northern part stains due to pollution of humidity.

they also did work on the acces to the statue of the liberty as a base it was not designed to welcom thr public.

[1814-1879] former professor of Bertholid he is the first Person who made the internal structure of the statue of liberty. Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, born January 27, 1814 in Paris and died September 17, 1879 in Lausanne, is one of the most famous French architects of the 19th century, known to the general public for his restorations of medieval constructions, buildings religious and castles.
Gustave Eiffel
In 1879, on the death of Viollet-le-Duc, Bartholdi called on the engineer Gustave Eiffel to decide on the internal statue of the statue.
