The song's release on the radio was debated. MTV refused to publish the song as it was "too politically sensitive" due to the inclusion of themes such as the Iraq war.

Riz Ahmed is rebelious: his decision to produce controversial music at the beginning of his career and to take risks in order to ensure his work aligns with his creative and personal self further accentuates his claim to being an authentic star.

Ahmed states that the song is "satirical and funny." The fact it is being suppressed is ironic in that it echoes the main theme in the song: that Muslims like Riz Ahmed are typecast as a threat.

The talent agency's particular focus on encouraging its stars to "impact culture and shape a better world" might be indicative of Riz Ahmed's activism post-2019 being financially viable. Whilst his activism, frequently embedded in his work, may be inherently personal and stem from authentic roots, WME encourages and benefits from this output of Ahmed's star-image, in order to sustain its claims.

However, the film that entered him into the Hollywood spotlight was not one about his identity as a South Asian, British, and Muslim man.

In this political satire, Ahmed was able to further entrench his career as being inherently political, working in films that had something larger to say about society.

He only accepted the role once director Chris Morris made clear to him that the film "challenges stereotypes."

He forges an alternative path: one that reflects his innate awareness of the industry and how to make the change he has spent most of his career campaigning for.

He uses the traditional structures of Hollywood to reshape and modernise the the film landscape.

This is part of the promotion for his 2018 film Mogul Mowgli. Through this interview, he is able to brand his film as being 'good' Muslim representation, and therefore widen the audience reach and thus the profit he makes from the film.
