Pauline was a wonderful writer, voracious reader, and activist who fought for a better world. Reading some of her writing makes me realize how much she thought about life and death. She knew, more than anyone else I’ve ever met, that we have a limited time on earth, and being true to ourselves during that time is nonnegotiable. Pauline was a deep thinker who traveled the globe because she wanted to understand the meaning of life and her existence.

She was also effortlessly adorable. I have never met someone with such natural charisma. Her hair was always flawless. She was magnetic to anyone who met her. When she danced, it was impossible not to watch her. I don’t think I will ever see a more contagious smile.

I miss her laugh, her voice, her spirit. I wish I could see her and talk to her again. It still does not make sense to me that she is not here and to think of her without pain. But if she has to be gone, then I want her life to be remembered and to continue to inspire others to live courageously.
