How are you??? Are you happy?? Are you doing well? What year is it now there in the future? You've come so far, and I'm so proud of you, and I know that just like how happy Alliyah of the future is, Alliyah of the past (2025) is also happy for what you've reached. Know that even though you faced a lot of challenges, someone is happy for how strong and tough you are, despite the challenges you've faced. I hope that you don't carry the burden to yourself anymore and that you are experiencing and living the life you've dreamed ever in your life. This is the 8-months-old Alliyah. She's the youngest of the 3 siblings, and she was born on June 2, 2007, at around 7:39 PM. At this time, I was learning how to crawl and properly chew my food, and I recall my family telling me that I used to cry a lot and I refused to believe them. I believe this is the reason I became such a talkative person, because they are teaching me how to talk and utter words carefully at this time.

When I was little, I was always with my kuya and ate, playing and spending time together while our Lolo and Lola took care of us since our parents were working abroad. I was really a Lolo’s girl and I couldn’t stand being away from him, and I’d even tag along with him to the dock at midnight just so I wouldn’t cry. Around this time, I learned how to walk while looking for Lolo in the mornings downstairs, drinking coffee and eating, learned how to write my name, and relying on my grandparents for milk, comfort, and even potty training.

Preschool - 4-5 Years Old

When my parents finally came home to the Philippines for a vacation, I felt so happy seeing them in person again after only talking through video calls, and this was also the time I started preschool, learning how to share, making friends, and taking small steps toward independence. I also remember asking for pasalubongs during calls, sometimes crying when they told me I could only choose what I really liked, but I would always say yes and wait excitedly for that “next time.” Looking back, the encouragement of my parents and teachers gave me the strength to keep going and believe in myself, as I was always shy and always found it hard to try new things.

When I first entered Grade 1, I was really scared because everything felt new: the school, the people, and the environment, but it was also where I started making friends, discovering things I enjoyed, and meeting some of the friends I still treasure today. During this time, my parents finally decided to come home for good, which brought us closer as a family, and I also became part of a dance group, with my mom proudly and happily recording me every performance and making sure I looked my best before stepping on stage. My elementary years weren’t always easy as I experienced losing friends, struggling with low quiz scores, and even facing discrimination, but those experiences only made me stronger, and with my family’s support, I was able to graduate in 2020, even if our moving-up ceremony had to be online because of the pandemic.

My adolescent years were a milestone, starting with junior high during the isolation of COVID, where I discovered my love for reading, found comfort in K-pop, and even experienced the joy of attending my first concert. Along the way, I gained and lost friends, faced the pain of losing my grandma, explored my style, joined the pep squad, and went through struggles in academics and friendships, but instead of letting these challenges break me, I used them to grow stronger, more confident, and true to myself. Looking back, these ups and downs shaped me, my identity, as this helped me embrace independence, and guided me as I entered senior high school after graduating junior high last 2024, and now finally stepping into adulthood last June 2025, which made me realize that I now have more responsibilities.

Personal Development was a big help for me because I got to know myself more. My key takeaway from Personal Development is learning to understand myself more on a deeper level. I mentioned this because I realized that it’s okay to feel what I feel, as every emotion and experience helps me grow stronger. My two favorite topics were Knowing Oneself and Personal and Social Relationships. I like these two topics because I gained a deeper understanding of myself through 'Knowing Oneself, as I realized why I act the way I do and what has shaped me into who I am today. Thus, having personal and social relationships is also one of my favorite topics because it taught me how to interact and connect with others, especially since I like socializing, as I am a very talkative person. Through these lessons, I didn’t just learn how to socialize, but I also discovered why I enjoy connecting with people and that I can be someone who’s not intimidating, but fun and approachable.
