Going over undulating roads at higher speeds (around 110km/h) I have experienced the cruise control adding power during very short duration increases in the gradient of the road (ie due to the car slowing down a small amount), and then cutting power when the road gradient decreases, then repeating as these areas of road typically have several up and down sections one after another (think of a sine wave with 30m between peaks). At certain speeds this causes the car to "pogo-stick" that is almost fully extend and compress the suspension, making an uncomfortable ride and potentially dangerous situation. This seems to be due to the over-responsiveness of the cruise control system. It should allow short term (1-2 seconds) excursions from the speed set point (maybe allowing the driver to define a tolerance band around the set point). This would also overcome the general lack of smoothness in the cruise control system. Even on a flat road, it constantly adjusts power when it is not necessary, and the adjustments are too sudden and large in magnitude.

Suspension upgrade kits

Here on Australia we have bumpy country roads where the speed limit is typically 100km/h. When cornering on these roads constant corrections need to be made to the cornering line. This is due to the suspension being too soft and underdamped. I have the Seal Premium (corresponds to the Design version in Europe). Suggest that BYD could make available a suspension upgrade kit that could be fitted by BYD dealers - this problem may just need a change to the shock absorbers. The goal would be to make the Seal suspension performance as close as possible to a known good reference such as the BMW G20 3 series.

If you open the button, the handles don't always go in. Opening with the key works better, but I don't think always... That should be the same as reversing when driving away. Whenever you put reverse gear on, the handles always go in. Which I think is good.

It seems to me that the app has never been updated since it's inception. There are so many more things that could easily be added such as a choice of miles or km. Particularly a button to defrost rear screen and mirrors as at the moment we can pre heat but not safely drive off once you get in the car. Also being able to switch between cars without logging out and in, we have 3 BYDs and this really is a pain.

In the UK the DAB radio is atrocious on all BYD models. I have a Seal AWD, my Wife has a Dolphin (there's some sort of fin aerial on top but that doesn't seem to do anything) and my Daughter has a new Seal U, DAB is useless on all of them.

You can see we're obviously BYD fans but at nearly £50,000 for the AWD you'd expect at least the radio to work but frankly it's rubbish.

If this one isn't fixed by BYD then we'll all be buying something else next time round.

First of all, the Seal should have 4 serious levels of regeneration strength. The best way to control this is with paddles left and right behind the steering wheel. This should decrease consumption. This regeneration should go to level 0 if snow mode is chosen. Change the regeneration level trough the central screen is a bad idea.

Changing the media mode is not an important action that must be done on the steering wheel. More important is being able to have the drive modes (sport/standard/eco/snow) on the steering wheel. Therefore it should be better to swap the functions of the media mode button on the steering wheel with the roller switch on the central console. Use the roller switch on the console to change the media mode.

It is important for the safety to be able to change the drive mode quickly to sport mode to overtake someone quickly, keeping both hands on the steering wheel.

Integration of Google Automotive

It would be better for BYD to integrate Google Automotive into their system. Having Google Automotive integration in the car is the best experience I have had in an EV. Using Google Maps as the main navigation app is fantastic and syncs automatically with your phone or PC. You can prepare your trip at home and find it straight away in the car.The second advantage is to be able to download all the apps that you want, simplifying everything and fulfilling most of the users' wishes.

At -5° Celsius and 45% SoC, the Seal only has 155kw of power! (0-100 in 7.6sec) I find this loss of power extreme. The Seal is advertised with 522hp and 3.8 sec. to 100 km/h. I know that this was only measured at warm temperatures and 100% SoC, but I think this loss is extreme. If it drops to 300kw, that's understandable, but a loss of 60% is not tolerable. Others who have also installed the Blade battery don't have this loss of performance. In Norway we have an average temperature of 6°C. I never actually got the performance that the Seal was advertised with. The software urgently needs to be improved!

Currently, the Steering Linkage setting in AVM only works for low speed (turned on when in 'D' gear and turn signal is activated and speed is <= 10kmh, turned off when turn signal is deactivated or speed >= 30kmh). I think the AVM should have an option to be activated in all speed / based on user preferences.

Here in Australia, I've a Seal Premium. I'd love to see an upgrade kit made available to convert the car from single phase AC charging to three phase; and preferably 22kW rather than 11kW.

Charging as fast as possible to make use of low tariffs is my main motivation here. My energy retailer provides free power between 11am and 2pm each day. :-)

The only way to avoid Android Auto automatically starting every time seems to be to disable it.

Current 3 phone options are: 1. Always, 2. If used on last drive, and 3. Default(set by car).

Option 2 seems to function like option 1, auto starting every time.

Option 3 seems to have no way of controlling from the car, and results in the same as 1 and 2.

A 4th option, Never, needs to be available, or have a way of controlling via the car.

I want to turn on Android Auto when I want it, and not when I don’t want it. Currently I need to manually enable it on my phone when I want to use it, the re-disable it, which is a pain, but the other option is to have it autostart every time I get in the car, which is even more painful.

I dont know if it is the software or the cameras but, this has happeng to me a few times.

I was driving in the highway in 110km/h in a good day with sun and +8 celcius.

I had no car in front of me and my car just panic braked from nowhere, i was lucky i had no car behind me.

Other times the lane assistand just turns whe steering wheel even when im in the middle of the 2 lanes. I nearly crashed the car beacuse of that. I will leave the car to be checked out.

Hopefully there is a fix for this..

Btw, this started when i updated the car to version 1.4, might not be the problem but it looks like it is beacuse of the update..

I also have problems that the car charges very slow atter the update.

Before the update the car could charge fron 80kw up to 140kw, now ive never reached more than 80kw in a 360kw charger.

It is also interesting to know, how much power the battery can accomodate during recuperation or during an upcoming recharge depending on current battery conditions (temperature, SOC, ...). In winter this could help to decide wether a charging pause is worth a try or if the battery is still too cold and to drive a bit further to the next charging station (of course this is useless if someone is running out of juice, then there is no decision possible).

The temperature difference between economic and comfort modes is not consistent within the cabin. Economic mode should use less power and take longer to reach the desired temperature, while comfort mode should achieve this faster using more power. It seems that the settings do not maintain the same temperature effectively. To maintain a certain temperature, the effect must be constant regardless of the setting.

The ACC, when following the car in front, is so frustratingly slow that it leaves a huge gap between the front car and the SEAL. This creates an opportunity for other drivers to merge in front, causing the car to brake unnecessarily. This needs to be fixed, and the acceleration should be increased. The acceleration should also be linked to economic, normal, and sport modes to determine how quickly the car accelerates. Additionally, if there is no car in front, the acceleration from a standstill at a traffic light should also be mode-dependent.

Front parking sensors need improvement

Parking sensors - they are terrible, if you turn it on and drive forward the front sensors cannot be relied on at all. If I need to work through a tight gap going forward I have to just use the cameras which means I’m no longer looking at the road in front of me. The parking sensors are far too quiet generally and the front ones are absolutely terrible.

Either much easier access or ability to permanently turn off ADAS settings. I hate every single time I turn the car on to have to switch off ADAS settings.

Split Screen availability

The split screen functionality on the center screen is good, but only works on limited ‘apps’ such as Sat Nav and Spotify.

It should also be possible to use the built in Media Center in split screen mode. So for example, Sat Nav on one side, and media center on the other side (with DAB or radio or music player etc). These are the 2 most common use cases for the center screen if you don’t want to use Android Audio or CarPlay.

Suggestion for Infotainment System Update – Enhanced Charging Station Preferences and Route Planning

I’d like to share a suggestion regarding the infotainment system’s charging station selection and route planning functionality. While using the system, I noticed that it only allows users to select nearby charging stations based on general brand categories, such as Tesla, E-Box, etc. However, it does not allow me to specify particular networks like Ionity or Aldi Süd, among others, even though I prefer these providers.

Interestingly, I can manually plan a route using only Ionity charging stations via external apps or maps, but I cannot integrate this preference directly into the car's system. To work around this limitation, I’ve even developed my own app for planning routes with my preferred charging networks. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to install this on the car’s infotainment system.

Wouldn’t it be useful if the system allowed users to input their charging cards (with or without subscriptions) and have the route planner calculate the most cost-effective charging route based on their preferences? This feature could save time, reduce costs, and improve the overall user experience for EV drivers.

Thank you for considering this idea. I’d be happy to provide additional input or discuss this suggestion further.

The “You are over the speed limit” reporting from the BYD Assistent, does not correspond with the actual GPS speed. On my BYD Seal, there is a difference of roughly 3 km/h. I would propose a feature to calibrate car speed with actual GPS speed. I always have to adjust my speed 3kmh higher than road sign speed limits, but then I get warnings from BYD Assistent, that I am over the speed limit. The car/GPS speed also depends on what kind of tire dimensions fitted and tyre pressure. A software user adjustment to dashboard/hud speed reporting would be very nice to have.

The car can get to 60 degrees Celsius on hot sunny summer days, without additional measures to protect the car (like reflective sunshade under the windscreen, which I use). It would be great to have a setting on the App to open the windows, say 1 or 2cm, and for the windows to close automatically when the temperature falls low enough or if rain is detected or if there is movement around the car.

Examples:

Cruise control is enabled and set at 100. Max speed changes. Hold the button... 95 -> 90 -> 85 -> 80 and release button.

Enable shared internet connection over Android Auto / Carplay, or the option to use Android Auto or Carplay ánd be able to connect to a hotspot.

All built-in BYD apps use data (navigation, spotify, voice commands, etc), but data is very limited (in NL only 1GB per month). If I understood correctly Android Auto is able to share the phones internet connection with the car it is connected to. Currently the Seal isn't able to use this 'shared internet over AA' . Enabling this would allow you to use your favorite music app using Android Auto or Carplay and use the onboard navigation without having to take into concern that you only have limited data.

A second option to accomplish this is it would be possible to connect to a wifi hotspot while using Android Auto or Carplay. Currently if you connect your Seal to a hotspot it will disable Android Auto.

I own a Seal U and its just 7 months old but am already facing issues with the 12V battery. It runs flat often thus can't start the car. This july 2025 alone the 12V battery has died twice yet it's hot outside. .I drive distance like 140 km a day enough to charge the 12V but the 12V still fails. The service period changed from 20000km to 30000km. Dealer give all kinds of accuses to push it to service period at 30000km. Has anyone faced issues with 12V battery? How did you solve the problem?

When I bought my BYD Seal car I wanted my Tesla reseller to show me the "SoH"(State of Health) value which should be around 98.5 - 99% (From what I have been told).

Unfortunately, they did not have the right OBD tests to show me this 🙂‍↕️.

I’m old skool — I still rip songs, tag them properly, and load my MP3s to USB. But there’s a quirky bug on Media Center app. Whenever I create a folder with songs from different singers under one compilation, only the very first track in that folder manages to display its correct album art. Every other song just hijacks that same cover, even though each MP3 file has its own artwork properly embedded. For context, all songs are tagged with the metadata filled consistently: the album artist in the folder is set as “Various Artist,” the song artist field contains the actual singer’s name, and the album name is tagged as “90s Best.”

Unsure if this was requested before or not. I noticed that my BYD Seal doesn't have a reverse sound that you normally would have in a normal car. Sure i am looking at the screen to see if its in drive or reverse but there's no beep say you are in reverse.

Unless this has been fixed on newer but my car version is on 1.4

To add some feeling of uniqueness/customisation, I would love to see an appearance selector for the Seal.

It’s already available for other models, like the Atto 3 and as far as I know, there are no silver Seals available as a stock option. So it makes no sense to have the figure showing a silver model.

Would be great if we could change the colour to personalise it to our vehicles.

Better yet, would be great to have a colour wheel to select through (like Tesla). In case we ever get the car wrapped into a non-stock colour.

Remote A/C working very poorly

It has been identified that front shutters in front of A/C radiator don't open if A/C alone is turned on via app.

Work around is to also turn on seat ventilation that triggers shutters to open.

Problem exists as you can't turn on seat ventilation to come on when A/C is Scheduled.

Remotely turning on A/C should open shutters.

Heating seat from app doesnt work

If we turn on AC heating, and after that heating seat, seat will not work, app will be showing wrong status. Need to refresh few times app, try few next times. Solution, turn on only seat heating, AC will work according to last settings. Problem is bigger when we would like to use function "one tap to.schedule". If we select seat +AC, seat will not work. If we selected only seat, app cannot save it.....useless function

There is a high risk now when trying to switch from D to R as it does not engage straightaway sometimes and the sound alert would help

We travel quite a bit with our dogs, and while there is capability to switch on remote air con, turn of child presence, there is no official dog mode like is offered in other bands. I’d really like to see this for the Sealion and Shark range especially, as I’d working dog owners would be more likely to own these vehicles

We could have a way to create profiles to set and configure many drive and car configurations by just changing profile, like. If I'm going for a long travel, select a profile that will already set the battery Save, change wheel and brake mode to sport, and car to sport mode, also setting some adas config to a specific configuration. The when in urban traffic, I could have another profile that will change many of those configs again, so you could change many configs with one touch instead of needing to go over many screens and changing things back and forth.

Automatically display of the front camera (preferably with zoom on the traffic light) at the intersection when there is a traffic light.

Especially with the BYD Seal, the traffic light is often obscured by the mirror. At the moment you have to turn the camera on and off manually.

Orange HUD blind spot indicators

The blind spot indicators in the HUD are displayed in green. I suggest they should be colored orange. Semantically they represent a warning and require attention. Being green, they are too easy to mistake for ADAS symbols and thus be overlooked.

Considering the warning triangles in the side mirrors are already orange, the different color in the HUD is just a bit confusing.

Not sure if the rest of the Community have experienced it, but when I use WAZE on my iPhone and set a route, the cars Apple Carplay failed to render the map, just shows a black screen with some map components visible on top of it. (Forces me to restart the Waze app on my phone then and try again) - Usually works after 2-3 attempts, but never happened before this update. V2.2.0

Most cars that I've driven has this feature. When outside temp is bellow a certain temperature, 10 degrees for example, Seat, Steering Wheel and Rear window heating turns on by themselfs. It would be amazing to have this. Also the quick setting for Seats and Steering wheel on other models as well. Seal 6 doesn't have that with the latest update

AUC/Automatic Recirculation and Smarter Climate Controls Program

I live in the tropics with varying high ambient temperatures and relative high humidity.

During both the day and night we require rapid cooling and climate control programming smart enough to sense when it needs to sufficiently blow high or low, alternate vent distributions, and quickly open and close air recirculation to prevent window fogging.

Let's say it is blazing hot at 40c outside and it suddenly rains, Seal's climate control is not smart enough to alternate these modes to keep comfortable temperatures and windows fog up rather quickly.

On my 16 & 22 years old BMW (Best climate control systems for this weather in my opinion), the settings are as follows:

20.5c NSF + 18c OSF

Intensive Auto Mode

Recirc on AUC

Face Vent set All the way to Blue

Always cool the cabins quickly equally top to bottom, windows never fogs, and prioritises fresh air and switches quick enough with no exhaust fumes can be smelt during city driving.

Current Settings on my Seal AWD:

20c NSF + 22c OSF (AUTO)

Manual Recirculation override. (Necessary)

Below the set temp, the climate control blows at max all the time with windows fogging up very quickly, yet above that the climate control is not smart enough to blow the passenger cool comfortably.

I think Seal is equipped w/the necessary software and hardware to implement these features (Pollution detection sensors + various ambient UV and temperature sensors) so it could be done.

Or is it too much to ask?

Have just installed a dashcam from Top BYD, all works after rebooting etc, yet the dashcam will not automatically record or loop, it will only record manually for the 40 seconds, 2 mins or 5 mins whichever you select, you have to open the app, press the record button yet it stops after the time has elapsed, does anyone know why this is happening?

The dampers can only be adjusted deep in the menus. No voice control, no bottom row icon button and no swipe down button. Essential for wallowing along freeway without shaking your bones to pieces. Add buttons and voice control to this function.

- port Blind Spot Camera (side camera's) from the Atto to the Seal. I know we can have the camera's turn on by signaling at low speeds but you have to be bellow 15kmh for it to turn on. Feels like a bug.

- Google Maps (Play Services) port, as well as the Maps in the driver display

- Drivers profile with a shortcut. Where we can set our favorite settings to be changed when driver profile is loaded, either via screen or one of the Steering Wheel buttons

- also steering wheel favorite buttons need more choices instead of those 3. We now have 10 ways to mute the sound but only 1 way to turn of rear/side mirrors defrost

- automatic seat/steering wheel heating based on temperature with an On/Off setting or better with a set outside temperature trigger

Audible Signal when Lane Assist Looses track

This is really sruprising that they didn't think of this as you can get surprised when the car just stops following the lane without letting you know. I know we don't have autopilot but lane keeping assist and Adaptive cruise control on the highway is very usefull but we need to hear when it disconnects. Tesla does it fine with the double "doo-doo"

Warning message should only be played if High beam is on inappropriately.

If headlights are on, message re "For safety take off high beam" is played. This should require High beam to be on.
