I wrote this poem to show what people went through during the Holocaust. It also shows that even though things have improved overtime, hate of the same kind is still shown throughout the world and that we need to continue to do units like this if we want to this hate to go away.

I wrote this poem comparing the lives between two young kids during the Holocaust. They were separated by religion and German propaganda, but united by their friendship. The bigger font shows Ben a Jewish boy whose life changed forever during the Holocaust. The smaller font shows Peter, Ben's best friend who was not Jewish and fit the German ideology of the ideal race. One day Peter's parents fell for the propaganda and told Peter he was no longer allowed to talk to and spend time with Ben anymore. Peter was a young boy so he was pretty oblivious to the propaganda so he decided to ignore his parents wishes. By then it was too late though and the night prior Ben and his family were taken by the Nazis and sent to a concentration camp. This poem shows the two different lives of people during the Holocaust and the experience they went through which was drastically different.

My connection is to my great-grandmother on my mom's side. She lived in Germany, and her entire family was highly affected by the Holocaust. She had a normal life in Germany, and their family was well-known and wealthy in their small town. Then, after the Holocaust, everything changed, and their lives would never be the same again.

I wrote a short story about two little kids during the holocaust. The main character. Derek, is Jewish and the other kid, Johnny, is not. I tried to focus on showing how kids that were Jewish had the same normal childhood everyone else had. This can show us that they weren't any different from us.

I made my poster have 2 sides, one in a concentration camp and one in a neighborhood and divided it with a fence with barbed wire. I used bright and pretty colors on the neighborhood side and flowers and butterflies to indicate peace and make it look nice and innocent. On the camp side, I made the sky red to represent death and I only used dark and ‘ugly’ colors to show how brutal and sad the camps were compared to regular life. I made a dead tree and dead flowers to show how life was not imperative in the camps.

One reason I made a poster is because I like to draw. Another reason is that I think it is one of the best ways to spread awareness. On my poster I wrote “Don't watch Stand Up for what's RIGHT” because I wanted to express that other humans should not just watch other people in pain or suffer, they should stand up for other humans and help to make things right. Then, I used bright colors to attract attention. Also, I put the word right in all uppercase letters to emphasize it.

I drew this poster to represent the unfairness towards the Jews during the Holocaust because the majority of people that died during the Holocaust were Jews. The fencing in front of the people shows how they were put into concentration camps. The butterfly that I drew represents hope and freedom where we honor the victims of the Holocaust.

This poster is so people will always remember what went on during the Holocaust and especially in the concentration camps as one can be seen in the image and with the barbed wire representing how they were trapped with no way to get out and that they were tortured. And the quote on the bottom is from a Resistance fighter in Vilna, Warsaw, and Bialystock. "The force that has overcome Europe and destroyed entire states within days could cope with us, a handful of youngsters. It was an act of desperation . . . We aspired to only one thing: to sell our lives for the highest possible price." This shows what he thought and what he wanted to do during this time of struggle.

The reason I chose to draw this is to show what state the allies found the Jews in. They were starved, and worked till they couldn't anymore. The Allies found them pale, so skinny you could see their bones, they looked as if they'd given up all hope. This shows prisoners coming in from the train, working, and coming out of their barracks, some people are dead, people are trapped, and there is also a gas chamber. Many things make us up as people such as education, occupation, physical, emotional, spiritual, social, a house, and finances. When you take these things away from a person, which is exactly what the Nazis did, you take away their experiences, beliefs, values, and memories. When you take that away plus their names, you strip away what makes them unique and up they are. They dehumanized all of them just because of bias and one person who everyone followed because it seemed right.

My aunt went through something no one should and I wanted to show what she felt. This poem talks about what people went through when they arrived at Auschwitz. It also shows the things that the Nazis did to dehumanize the Jewish people.

I did a digital drawing showing how we should work together. On the top I demonstrated a drawing with kids suffering in concentration camps and on the other side of the barbed wire is freedom and peace. On the bottom of the digital drawing is a poster showing if we unite we can stop the discrimination. The smaller drawing on the poster shows the red dots(opressers) taking control and discriminating the black and white dots(victims). The bystanders/citizens are just acting like nothing is happening and aren’t helping to stop the harm. Then, after some people realize they can all work together to stop it, the bystanders help the victims and stop the oppressors and save them. This helps determine to solve the problems uprising in society is better if we work together.

I chose to create an online picture to show the importance and the impact the Holocaust made in today's world. The quote I chose by Anne Frank shows the fight and courage people had to keep going in this dark time and to try and see the light of day when it is all over. The pictures on the top represent themes of the Holocaust with the striped pajamas and the train rides into the concentration camps. Despite this, the Holocaust will always remain one of the most harrowing chapters in history which we can build off of to make a better future.

I wrote a poem about the terrible things, and the lives of the people that faced this terrible time recognized as the Holocaust. I also wrote about how historical mistakes should be taught to prevent these kinds of things from happening again.
