Over the last few mornings, it has been very windy and foggy at night. During the night we were awakened by the wind pummeling against our tent. We begin hiking when it is the cooler part of the day. We stop here and there to get a break and take in the views. So far this journey has been exciting.

We were able to do a restock supplies which turned out to be great because who knew what we would face. Life in the mountains have been lots of fun. We have seen bears, deers, and other mountain animals. It was a lot of uphill walking so we had to take breaks more frequently. It has been a lot colder up here in the mountains, thank goodness we were able to get out jackets and warmer gear just in time when we stopped in a town once we left the desert. We were able to go into a little town where we were able to restock and meet up with some family and friends. It was great to see people we know and they hiked part of the trail with us which was fun. The last few miles of California have been beautiful. We have encountered some rain but that does not let our spirits down. Days have been cooler, and we have been walking through the beautiful forest. We have been staying hydrated on the trail as we have come across fresh water that we filter so it is safe to drink. Our journey in Oregon is just BEAUTIFUL. The wildlife we have seen has been breathtaking. Oregon so far has been our favorite place to hike. Once we crossed the Oregon/ Washington border we felt such relief and sadness. We began our journey in Washington with a 15000 foot climb, then immediately dropped. We lost all elevation and this was just the beginning of steepness and greenery. It had been raining most of the time here. We have seen elk and mountain goats. When we began our dissent down the fog thickened which made it hard to see. When the trail finally hit the valley floor, it we were met with the beautiful sun. We began to savor this time as we know the last stretch is coming. After making a stop in town to restock, we would soon cross the Canadian border. Then all of a sudden the trail curved and the US-Canadian Border can be seen. Once we made it to the border we still had to walk a few more miles. We hiked in very frigid temperatures and before we knew it the forest trail turned into a smooth road. We left the forest and a couple of hours later we found ourselves on a bus to Vancouver.
