         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although known as a negative social event, conflict can cause both negative and positive consequences to team dynamics and functioning. It can lead to distraction from a common goal, cause tension between peers, and ultimately destroy team functioning. It can also lead to higher team functioning, new ideas, and increase diversity among team members.  Conflict can occur between nurses, physicians, management, or even with patients and patient family members. As healthcare providers, it is important to be able to identify conflict when it begins and use effective strategies to come to a resolution.  It is important to remember that conflict can lead to decreased quality in patient care and can ultimately harm the patient’s health status. By having a clear understanding of conflict and its origins, healthcare members can use it as a positive tool to improve team dynamics and minimize the detrimental effects it may have on team functioning. </div>]]></description>

The perceived stage is when the people involved in a conflict become aware of the conflict. The felt phase occurs when the participants begins to feel the anxiety associated with the conflict at hand. This leads to the manifest stage. This is when conflict can be observed. Lastly, during the aftermath stage, an outcome of the conflict occurs. </div>]]></description>
