Militarism. The belief in building up a strong armed forces to prepare your country for war. This is a system that places great importance on the military power. Militarism was a significant force in several European nations in the years prior to World War I.

Document E was a form of militarism. This map portrays the idea that the governments are stealing the money of the people. They are spending more and more money. This money belongs to the people and over the years, the government is picturing the people as a bank.

As well, Document G is a form of militarism. This document shows the "population" of each army. The more soldiers in the bar of the army, the stronger the country is expected to be. Just like the one before, Germany is portrayed as the superpower of the graph.

Imperialism. Imperialism provided a cause for World War I. Imperialism is a system where a powerful nation controls and exploits one or more colonies.

Document B is a form of Imperialism shows countries on a map, the countries are overtaking the other countries. They were controlling them. It is shown by highlighting a country, and highlighting the countries that are colonized by the same color. Such example of this case on the map can be the British. According to the legend, any country highlighted in yellow is indicated as a country colonized by the British. Those are countries like Canada, India, Australia, Egypt, etc....

Document C was an example of imperialism. This document gave examples of countries who have colonized others. Whether there it was in the form of an alliance or individual countries. imperialism was the point of the document. Countries like Japan, Germany and Italy were competing for the throne on the marketplace. Industry took a very important role in this example of imperialism.

Document D was presented in the form of propaganda by the British. This propaganda was targeted as a threat to Germany. It portrayed all of the countries bowing down to Germany (it signals a show of egotistical power to Germany). "Germany will have a place in the sun" and "the world is mine" were forms of threat to Germany. "They have the most power," and the world obeys.

Document H was a form of imperialism. It had regions that differed in color which were indicated in the legend. In a perfect world, every country would have its own boundaries. However, the world is not perfect, if it was then there would be no war. Imperialism portrayed the colonization. Different countries had their boundaries in different places.

Alliance. Countries agreed to support one another in case of an attack. Countries become allies and support each other. That was a form of aid between countries, they united together as a power. They would turn against other countries.

Document K was an example of the alliance forces. This document was picturing the different countries unified against other unified groups of countries. An example would be, France, Russia, and Britain were allies.

Document L was an example of an alliance system. This system showed all of the unified countries relying on each other. They created a "chain" of alliance. If one country was interfering with another, then all of the allies of that single country would intervene. If a country was being hurt by another, then the rest of the alliance would threaten that country. Allies against allies.

Nationalism is being extremely loyal to your country, to a level that you can nearly do anything to serve it. They have interest of their country over interest of the other countries.

Document A is a form of nationalism. We picked it in such category because nationalism suggests that one would sacrifice much for their country. This document has individuals fighting for their countries. Diverse groups within countries unified against all countries that colonized them. They were schemes that rivaled European superpowers.
