The mosaique-like landscape provides habitat for many plant and animal species in the Karst: the warm, southern slopes of hills provide an excellent place for even some mediterranean species while the dolinas of the northern slopes give home to Carpathian species. But sometimes I do not even have to climb a hill to be able to observe rich wildlife and the interaction among species. It is enough to sit awhile in my garden, since Szögliget, the village where I live, is one of those 21 settlements that locate right next to the borders of Aggtelek National Park.
