         <description><![CDATA[<div>-The flame ionises the air molecules into positive and negative ions.<br>-When the power supply is switched on, the positive ions are attracted towards the negatively charged plate.<br>-The portion of the flame occupied by the positive ions are larger because they are heavier and tend to move slower.<br>-On the other hand, the negative ions are attracted towards the positively charged plate.<br>-The portion of the flame occupied by the negative ions are smaller because they are lighter and tend to move faster.<br>-Hence, the separation and different motion speeds of the positive and negative ions result in the flame being spread out.</div>]]></description>
