Good Reasons and Convincing Evidence

Good reasons and convincing evidence:
Bauer: Author is able to use reasoning through responses gotten with first hand experience as well as tying those to convincing evidence by giving history and background of those with intellectual disabilities, and what they go through with legal issues and housing issues. Bauer is able to provide convincing evidence by picking apart her claim and placing these pieces of evidence where they need to be placed, along with offering the statistics of violence and evidence that most wouldn't even spend time with a student with an intellectual disability.
Fairman: Author doesnt implement strong uses of convincing evidence, as his evidence is mainly ones that show the support for the banning of the r word, but for evidence on his side they are mostly used to try and compare other words. But, one convincing evidence to prove the claim that the word will never go away, was the college student speech code.

Strongest evidence & Why?:
Bauer: This authors strongest piece of evidence would be that people with development disabilities are 4 to 10 ties more likely to be victims of violence. This evidence is the strongest because it helps hold that importance and heavy concern that the author is trying to tie around the readers and shows the severity of what really goes beyond this word being said and how much hate there truly could be behind this word and its indications.
Fairman: Authors strongest piece of evidence would be when emanual calls fellow democrats the r slur, and saying it is in stand for the words stupid or misguided, then strengthening this piece even more by saying if there are alternate meanings what is the reason for censorship. This evidence is strong because it ultimately shapes the claim of fairman that there are more connections to the word, so ultimately whats the use of censorship if these connections arent directly to those with disabilities , rather those who exemplify these other words.

Evidence that appeals to readers values:
Bauer:
Pathos: Author heavily uses pathos as they tell personal stories
Logos: Author uses logos with evidence and statistics provided
Fairman:
Logos: author uses heavy logos to create the comparison to other words.

Clear and Arguable Position

Does the writer have a claim?
Bauer: Author has a clear point stating that the word signifies still heavy disrespect and is still used without thoughts of consequences by others. Makes sense as author is also able to provide stats, personal connections, and re-buttle against certain real events containing the word.
Fairman: Author does not authenticate much of a clear claim as the start of the writing he states that he will not be making that pledge, along with straying off into other words where he tries to make a connection to make his claim clear but fails in doing so with providing things that conflict one another.

Good reasoned argument:
Bauer: Author is able to be consistent with good reasoned argument by backing up claims and statements with facts and personal stories from experiences with her daughter.
Fairman: Author is able to present more of that argument stronger towards the end where he claims that the words will always be used, just will become new words after one another, meaning you cant really stop the word from being used, also bringing up the fact of censorship and freedom of speech, but doesn't really articulate that claim.

Reasonable, supportable, and worthy of being taken seriously?̈:
Bauer: Author presents every aspect of these words as she is able to reason with the readers to show experiences along with statistics that go towards informing the reader of how seriously rooted this word is and how people with these disabilities are still constantly treated. Author is also able to show the support and serious tone with these pieces of evidence along with legal tones that still need to be undertaken, such as the federal government still not funding special education which arises another level of concern and seriousness to the situation.
Fairman: Author does show reasonable concern for the topic, as he introduces serious topics like censorship and applying other terms that support his claim of the word forever existing in any intended way it was made. BUT, author does not show much seriousness with his claims as he bounces back and forth towards claims that dont strongly build up on his claim to flow out his meaning of this writing piece.
