We talked negatively about not allowing any other forms of english, and having only one correct accent. Also we decided on less group work, and more grammar.

On the flip side, we wanted to make on open and welcoming classroom, where every and all versions of english are welcome, we would have as much group work as possible, and a lot of communicative teaching. We would work with teaching the students to understand and accept different varieties of english, and making it their own.

Idea for activity: the pupils write down on a piece of paper what is said aloud by the teacher. The teacher should emphasise that the words written down should not be grammatically correct but sound correct (more=spelled=mor). Afterwards the pupils create their own text with their own “English” words.
