As the saying goes, ‘If you don’t use it you lose it.’ Continuing to learn more about the subjects I’ll be teaching and the methods I instruct keeps information relevant, up to date and fresh. Learning from other professionals also expands different teaching methods and I have always found immense value from learning from other peers in my field. Learning from peers helps find a variety of ways to teach material to students and different methods that may help them learn material more efficiently.

While coaching for a high school in Los Angeles I was able to guest teach their dance classes and become more involved with the workings of high-school teaching. At this point it was clear that teaching and being part of a school was what I want to do with my life. The school culture, comradery and community pride are why I decided I wanted to pursue teaching rather than continuing to work as a private dance teacher or coach.
