Native Americans think that religion and science are kinda connected. The native religion teaches that all parts of nature like animals, trees, rivers, and stars are alive and connected. This helps them understand the world around them, similar to how science works in other cultures.

Western science focuses on facts, experiments, and breaking things into parts to study them. Native knowledge is passed down through stories, experiences, and a deep respect for nature. It doesn't separate the spiritual from the natural world. So, instead of being two different things, religion and science often work together in Native American traditions.

In many Native American cultures, "religion" and "science" are not sharply separated as in Western thought. Native worldviews often emphasize interconnectedness, where nature, spirit, and humanity are deeply linked. Knowledge is gained through lived experience, oral tradition, and a spiritual relationship with the land, rather than through detached observation. Nature is viewed as sacred and alive, not merely a resource to be studied or used. While science seeks objective explanations, Native traditions often pursue balance, meaning, and respect for all life. Despite differences, many Indigenous people today blend traditional knowledge with scientific understanding.

There are different religions. Everyone worships something rather it be money, God, Gods, Goddesses, or even science. I am a believer in God, a catholic, but I love science. I think science looks for explanations. It studies phenomena while religion is about meaning. It explains The history of miracles, of moments when events transpired and how it relates to us and our transgressions. There are many collisions between science. I think, if someone really wanted to, they can become religious and yet also be a scientist.

Religion is based on faith and spiritual beliefs, offering meaning and moral guidance through sacred traditions and addressing metaphysical questions. While religion often remains constant, science evolves with new discoveries.

For many Native American peoples, religion and science are not seen as separate ideas but as interconnected parts of a unified way of life. Spiritual beliefs are closely tied to practical knowledge about the natural world, such as understanding plants, animals, and seasonal changes. This knowledge is passed down through generations and based on careful observation, similar to science, but it is guided by a deep sense of respect, relationship, and spiritual connection to the Earth. Together, they form a worldview focused on balance, harmony, and living in right relationship with all beings.

In Native worldviews, spiritual and natural realms are not distinct—they are part of a single, interconnected system where humans, animals, plants, and the land are all related and imbued with spirit. Religion, in this sense, is not a separate institution but a way of living in balance with the world

There is a huge difference in how Indigenous people view Religion and Science. One is often more welcomed than the other simply because of the idea or concept of what is truly sacred to a people. Science on the other hand want to find answers to the past or how something that is observed functions or exists in ancient or modern times. Both religion and science wants to answer the question of existence and function. Both are valuable in what it means to be a human being.

For many Native American people, religion and science are seen very differently than how they are in Western culture. Religion for them is deeply connected to nature, the land, and their ancestors. It’s not just about going to a church or reading a holy book it’s about living in harmony with the earth and believing that everything, like animals, rivers, and trees, has a spirit. On the other hand, science is more about studying how things work using facts, experiments, and evidence. While science tries to explain nature in a logical way, Native American religion often sees nature as sacred and full of mystery that can’t always be explained. So, for Native American people, religion is more spiritual and connected to everyday life, while science is more about observation and proof.

Having discovered a rich vein of copper beneath its surface, Oak Flats, a very sacred and religious place is scheduled to be mined in the year 2025 against the wishes and protests of the Apache people. Copper is the lifeblood of modern science because of its use in chemistry, electronics, and auto manufacturing across the planet. However, when science and religion cross paths, it causes mass destruction of the land and the philosophies of the people or peoples involved. Environmentalists have shared their beliefs systems with the Native Americans in that destruction of land and its resources causes nothing but environmental disasters and disease. Science should not be chosen over the religious viewpoints of a people who have lived on land they see as their birthright for thousands of years.

In Western cultures, science is usually based on observation, experimentation, and facts, while religion deals with faith, spirituality, and the unseen. However, in many Native American traditions, understanding the world means combining both. The natural world is seen as sacred, with animals, plants, water, and the sky holding spiritual meaning. Stories, ceremonies, and experiences passed down through generations help explain how the world works both physically and spiritually. Rather than dividing knowledge into categories like "science" and "religion," Native cultures often view learning as a way to live in balance with nature and respect all living things. This creates a more holistic way of understanding life and the universe.

For many Native American cultures, "religion" and "science" are not seen as separate, opposing domains the way they often are in Western thought, In many Native traditions, knowledge isn't pursued just for the sake of control or curiosity but to maintain balance, honor relationships, and fulfill responsibilities to the land and community. This contrasts with the more utilitarian or exploratory motives behind modern science also Traditional Indigenous knowledge blends empirical observation (what Westerners would call "science") with stories, rituals, and spiritual teachings. For example, ecological practices, like controlled burns or seasonal hunting, are passed down through oral tradition and shaped by spiritual beliefs.

From a Native American perspective, religion and science are not separate domains but are deeply intertwined, reflecting a holistic worldview that sees no division between the spiritual and the material. Native American knowledge systems often encompass both practical and spiritual dimensions, a concept referred to as "sacred ecology." This approach integrates empirical observation with spiritual understanding, acknowledging that natural phenomena are not only scientifically explainable but also spiritually significant. For example, the Blackfeet people's use of medicinal plants is informed by both their healing properties and the spiritual teachings associated with them. Ceremonies such as sweat lodges, vision quests, and the use of sacred plants like peyote are central to many Native American spiritual practices. These rituals serve as means of connecting with the spiritual realm, gaining insight, and maintaining harmony with nature. While they may involve elements that are scientifically measurable, their primary purpose is spiritual and communal, emphasizing experience and participation over doctrinal belief.

They perceive the natural world through a holistic lens, which fosters a deep respect for the environment.

As a Native American, I understand that religion and science are not separate realms of thought but are intertwined aspects of our worldview. In our traditions, the sacred and the empirical coexist, each informing and enriching the other. In many Native American cultures, religion is not confined to a specific domain but permeates all aspects of life. This perspective is evident in the Lakota concept of mitákuye oyás'į, meaning "all my relations," which reflects a deep kingship with all beings human and non-human alike. This interconnectedness suggests that spiritual and scientific understandings are not distinct but are part of a holistic view of the world. In Native American thought, religion and science are not opposing forces but complementary aspects of a united worldview. By embracing both spirituals beliefs and empirical observations, we gain a more comprehensive understanding of the world around us. This integrated approach offers valuable insights into how we might address contemporary challenges, such as environment degradation, by fostering a deeper connection to the land and its inhabitants.

There are many things different between Science and Religion. First off, science is about what works and what doesn't, it also gives out facts about the world. Religion however is about believing what's real, it also tests your faith. Religion is believing in a God, you worship. For example, I believe in the son of God. They are both utterly and completely different from each other. Facts and Faith are not the same when you think about it.
