The story :

Many ,many years ago in ancient Greece , there was a young girl named medusa. Medusa was the prettiest girl in her city.
One day medusa and her friend went to visit the temple of the beautiful goddess Athena .When medusa saw the statues , she told her friends , " i am more beautiful than Athena. There should be statues of me here!"
Athena heard what medusa said , and she was very angry ."you should be very carful about what you say , little girl " she said to medusa .
But medusa was not scared. She looked at Athena and said "you are just jealous !"
The beautiful goddess became even angrier. " I will punish you for this!" . she said to medusa. Then she made snakes grow out of medusa's head , and put a terrible curse on the young girl. Athena told her, "when people look at you, they will turn into stone".
Soon, everyone was afraid of medusa.
One day the people of medusa to get into trouble with the evil gods and evil gods told them that they will bring about a natural disaster.

In ancient Greece there were two brothers named Epimetheus and Prometheus.

They upset the gods and made Zeus very angry. Zeus punished them by stopping them from making fire. They could not cook their meat and could not keep warm.

Prometheus was very clever and he knew that the blacksmith on the isle of Lemnos had a fire to keep his forge hot. Prometheus went to Lemnos and stole fire from the blacksmith. Zeus was even more angry and wanted to show the humans that he was in charge.

Zeus made a plan to punish the two brothers by making a woman out of clay. Then he gave it as a gift to the two brothers.

Prometheus told his brother never to take gifts from the gods, but Epimetheus thought that Pandora was beautiful and he married her.

Zeus gave Pandora a wedding gift of a beautiful box.

There was one very important rule – she must never open the box.

Pandora wanted to know what was inside the box, but she promised that she would never open it.

For a while she fought the temptation of knowing what inside the box but at the end she couldn’t resist it.

She opened the box but the box was empty.

This was exactly how Zeus had planned it.

But the box wasn’t empty it was filled with all the evil things that Zeus could think of. Things like death and illness , poverty and sadness flew out of the box , all shaped like tiny buzzing moths . The moths sting Pandora.

There was only one good thing left in the box – Hope.

By opening the box Pandora let pain and sadness into the world but she also let hope to follow them.
