More specifically, there should be 2 sentences of commentary for a single piece of evidence. Also mentioned in the video was the purpose of commentary which is to analyze evidence and how it relates to the rhetorical situation. Something else I took away from the video, is to not use diction without saying the specific use of it.

My main takeaway from the videos is that to get a good or passing score on the rhetorical analysis essay, your commentary should explain you evidence which should be connected to the thesis. To do this your commentary should work with your evidence, you should avoid long quote or too much summary, make an "even" analysis by layering evidence and commentary, and finally create effective transitions between paragraphs. With this knowledge you should be able to pass the rhetorical analysis essay.

I think if you were to force a rhetorical device that does not fit as well, your essay may seem weaker. I also thought the whole commentary, evidence, and thesis connection seems cool, and I want to dig deeper into that.

One of my main takeaways from the videos today was that your commentary should match the rest of your essay. It has to match your evidence and your evidence has to match your these. If these do not match up then your essay will not make any sense. I also learned that you do not need to talk about fancy rhetorical devices, just talk about the ones you know the most about.

One main takeaway is to piece the essay paragraph by paragraph, because that way you can attack the rubric more strategically and achieve easier points without distracting yourself or worrying about weaker points. When you piece it like this, and are sure that you have just one strong paragraph, the rest of the essay will follow from the foundation you’ve built, and this way even if the rest of the essay is poor, you have guaranteed yourself some points just from the foundation.

One of my main takeaways from the videos is to make sure to use strong and sufficient evidence in my essay, and to not get caught up on the number of paragraphs in your essay. Since there is not a specific amount of paragraphs needed for the essay, you should focus on quality over quantity. Do not over elaborate with minor details and things that are off topic. This will negatively affect the strength of your essay.
