I'm 17 years old and I am currently an 11th grade student.

I'm someone who loves to explore different areas of life, both in the arts and in technology. Playing the piano has been a part of my life for years, and it’s something that helps me relax and stay focused. I also spend a lot of time reading books, always looking for new ideas and perspectives. It’s a habit that has really shaped how I think and approach learning.

Movies are another big passion of mine. I love watching films, analyzing them, and seeing how they tell stories in unique ways. On the more technical side, I enjoy frontend coding (JavaScript and CSS), which lets me build and create things in the digital space. Balancing these different interests keeps me curious and eager to learn.

In addition to my creative pursuits, I have a strong interest in physics, especially astrophysics. I like to stay up-to-date on the latest discoveries and theories about the universe—it fascinates me how much we still have to learn. I'm also quite interested in philosophy, as it gives me the tools to think critically about the world around me. And, of course, like any "normal" kid, I enjoy playing video games in my free time! It's a fun way to unwind and adds a little bit of excitement to my routine. :))

I’m excited about the chance to bring this mindset to my Erasmus experience, to learn from others, and to share my own passions along the way!

I can speak Turkish, Greek, and English, which helps me connect with people from different cultures. In addition to my love for languages, I enjoy music and can play both the piano and guitar. Music is a great way for me to express myself and relax.

There are many hobbies I do, for example, playing games on the computer and drawing, swimming, which is a computer hobby I inherited from my father, and additionally learning languages ​​such as Spanish and German. In my spare time, I like to spend time with the computer or use applications for language development or drawing pictures. My future goals are to travel to foreign countries like my aunt, to see the beauties of those countries and to learn at least a little of the languages ​​of those countries.

In the future, I would like to be an esthetician and open a clinic with the support of my family, and the support I already have from my family motivates me in terms of choosing a profession. I'm curious about what I will learn during this project. I am very happy and proud to be in this project. I want to meet all of you.

My name is Irmak, which can be a bit tricky to pronounce for some, especially since it starts with an “I.” I was born on the 4th of August, 2008, making me 16 years old. I am currently studying in the 11th grade at Hacı Bektaş Veli Anatolian High School, where I’ve been working hard to balance my academic goals with my personal interests. One of my biggest passions is playing tennis, which I try to squeeze into my schedule whenever possible. I also love learning new languages, which I find both exciting and rewarding. Right now, I can speak English, French, and, of course, my native language, Turkish, quite fluently. I believe there’s always something new to learn, and languages open doors to different cultures and perspectives.

At the moment, a lot of my time is dedicated to preparing for upcoming exams. It can be stressful, but I remind myself that it’s all part of achieving my long-term goals. When I’m not studying, I love spending time with my friends, going out for a coffee or just chatting. My family is also really important to me, and I cherish every moment I get to spend with them. Outside of school and social life, I’m deeply interested in biology and computer science. I find the combination of understanding life on a molecular level and exploring technology’s role in shaping our future fascinating.

Looking ahead, I dream of traveling abroad, experiencing new cultures firsthand, and broadening my horizons. One of my biggest aspirations is to participate in ERASMUS projects, which would give me the chance to study in a different country while meeting new people and expanding my knowledge. I’m excited for what the future holds and all the opportunities that might come my way.

I have always loved sports. I regularly do fitness, and I also enjoy cycling, swimming, and playing volleyball and handball. I love traveling and seeing beautiful nature. I enjoy taking photos of these places. And of course, I love reading books.

I am interested in coding and artificial intelligence, and I know Python. I like to research new discoveries in many scientific fields, especially biology, and I enjoy reading articles and watching videos about them.

My future goals include getting into dental school, which is my dream. I also want to explore new places and cultures abroad and meet new people. I can speak English, a little French, and my native language, Turkish. I want to learn more languages in the future.

Since I was a baby, I was into swimming because my older brother was a swimmer.

When I was 4, I started swimming and I was a professional swimmer for 8 years.

Currently I still have license but I’m not a swimmer anymore.

I’m still into sport because even though we are not swimmers anymore my brother is a bodybuilder so we didn’t break the ties with sports.

Hello 👋 My name is Despina and I am from the 4th GEL of Rhodes in Greece. I am in the second year of high school, born in 2008 but unlike my friends I did not turn the 16 yet.

In my free time I listen to music or i scroll in tik tok like all of us. In the summer I read books, mostly psychological thriller. During the year I do not have the time for that or even the energy, so when i go to the beach the book is the main thing to be taken. In my life I tried many hobbies but the ones that really stands out is volleyball and drawing. I started playing volleyball in the end of elementary school (around 10 years old) and stopped this year in May because of the exams.

Many people suggests me to become and architecture or a designer because of my ability to draw but my love for biology is bigger. From the start of junior high school I liked biology and it become my favorite subject. Now I want to become a doctor ( I am thinking of neurosurgeon).

I can speak Russian, English and Greek. When I was younger I wanted to learn Spanish which unfortunately I did not learn. This is and one of my goals actually.

From this project I expect to learn new things and to make new friends.

My name is Zeynep . I am 15 years old and I am 10th grade student in Hacı Bektaş Veli Anatolian High School .I have been interested in  sports or doing exercise since i was 4years old .i played badminton for 6 years and I quit it like 2 years ago .I play voleybol for 2 years and ı also do fitness  at the same time . I really like to watch films and listening music like most of people . Some of the things ı love to do is exploring new cultures ,meet with new peoples , tasting new foods and traveling .i think things like this helps us making core memories and good experience about life . Also ı really like to spending time with my loved ones it especially with my friends because when we are with our loved ones everything become more special  and enjoyable than basic times .

I’ve been a member of my school’s Model United Nations club since the day it was established. I have been serving as the Head of Public Relations for the past two years. Thanks to MUN i had the chance to get to know different countries cultures and this led me to become a part of our Erasmus Project. Rather than school-related activities i also like to spend time on my own. I love watching movies and evaluating them. In the meantime I’m an enthusiastic vinyl collector, i love listening to different genres.

I’m really excited to meet new cultures and people. I’m looking forward to the opportunity of working with you all!!

I like swimming, music and sports. My hobbies include playing instruments, drawing and playing games because they let me express my creativity. And I love to eat.

In the future, I would like to study aviation and become a pilot so that I can combine my passion for travelling with my fascination for the skies.

Maia is a municipality located 11 km north of central Porto and it is considered as one of the greenest urban areas of Porto. It is also famous for being highly industrialized and a seat of several companies, such as Sonae, CIN, Frulact, Cerealis, or Prozis. Living in Maia is a good compromise between the hustle and high prices of central Porto and calm and cheaper suburban areas. 

Some places to visit in Maia:

- Torre do Lidador – The 92 meter tall tower resembling a firelighter is considered as a symbol of Maia. It is a seat of Maia municipal services and also a 5th tallest building in the whole Portugal and the tallest building outside of metropolitan area of Lisbon.

- Parks – Maia is one of the greenest urban areas of Porto having also several parks. They serve for walking with family, or dogs, doing sports or as a family reunion place to have a picnic. You can visit for example Parque Urbano de Moutidos, or Parque de Avioso.

- Quinta dos Cónegos – This garden with the beautiful baroque house built in 18th century.

- Zoo da Maia – Maia Zoo is smallish compared to regular zoos, but if you come with children, they will for sure love it. Btw there are only two zoos around Porto, the second one is Zoo Santo Inácio.

- Ecocaminho da Maia – “Ecocaminho” is a hiking area built of wooden pathways serving mainly for walking, running, or a dog walking. It is around 3.3 km long and connects the metro station “Mandim” with Quinta dos Cónegos. You can see a lot of local fauna and flora along the way, among others also a typical cork oak called in Portuguese “sobreiro”, eucalyptus trees, lemon trees, etc.

- Castelbel factory – Castelbel is a Portuguese brand producing home and body products and its factory is located in Maia. You can, after a prior arrangement, agree on a guided tour of a factory, or buy a discounted products in the factory shop.

- Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Bom Despacho – As Portuguese are mainly of a catholic religion, a catholic church cannot miss in Maia.

The building, built thanks to the initiative of the Town Hall, had then agricultural surroundings and did not have some of the fundamental infrastructures yet, namely as far as the access roads were concerned.

This only building (Bloco C at the present) was shared with a section of Liceu D.Manuel II (from Oporto), operating on the ground-floor, whereas the technical school occupied the first floor.

The school began its activity without auxiliary staff, no administrative employees, the school office was in the Director’s car trunk (the typewriter, the files…). The school enrolments were made by the Director helped by a friend, Mr Amadeu, who worked in the school office of Escola Industrial Infante D.Henrique, and, who for free and on a voluntary basis, sacrificed his holidays for this collaboration.

On the 2nd October 1972 the classes began during the day and in the evening. Still without furniture, the first lesson was given standing. “On your feet, as a great march starts.” says with justified pride, Dr Dias

Leitão. And the march moved forward, despite the mud of the (non-) path, the lack of staff (only in January the first employees would be placed), the lack of equipment.

As soon as it became possible to have a room, a bar was opened to teachers and students. With a relevant detail: the accounting teacher and her students settled the prices and organised the accounting records in specific documents, and these were part of the practical classes of the subject.

During its first year, the school got two specific allocations for the library and the laboratory from the Minister of Education Veiga Simão.

In 1973 the school was institutionally reinforced being “recreated” as Escola Polivalente da Maia. This way the integration of the four parts of the secondary formation was settled: high school and technical school,

daytime and evening schooling. Dr Dias Leitão was kept in charge of the direction, whereas the function of deputy director was given to a permanent teacher of the high school, Dr Helena Smith.

In the following decades, the growth of the school in physical and staff terms was proportional to the transformation of Maia, which went from a mainly agricultural county to an industrial and urban one.

In 1987 the facilities were expanded and redesigned and this was the basis of the present administrative building.

On the contrary of the national tendency for a decrease in the number of the school population in the basic and secondary levels, Escola Secundária da Maia, growing as fast as the city, reached the point of overcrowding in the nineties. Meanwhile, the settling of new schools in the county allowed some relief of the courses of the daytime schooling. However, the attendance of the evening courses kept growing (Ensino Recorrente).

The offer of a wide variety of courses, namely technical/technological, both in daytime schooling and in evening schooling, has been a plus of Escola Secundária da Maia. Between 2009 and 2011, the school underwent the intervention of Parque Escolar. This intervention was based on the construction of new buildings where the library, the auditory, the canteen, the laboratories, the ICT rooms, the art rooms and other classrooms were placed. A new covered sports field was built, including support sports facilities (changing rooms and supporting spaces). The pre-existing buildings were refurbished, assuring the present demands of comfort, security and accessibility. The outside spaces of the school were improved, creating a dividing line between the pedestrian access zone and the car access and parking zones.

I'm Afonso, a 13 years old student, in the 9th grade on the Secundary School of Maia, where I live.

My hobbies are: practice triathlon, programming (principally PHP, html, css, js, and a little bit of python) and playing some PC games.

In the future, I want to start a career in software development industry.

I'm always eager to learn and try new things which keeps life exciting!

I've been a scout for more than a decade and my love for nature and adventure has only grown stronger over the years.

In my free time I love to sketch and work on many creative projects, that go from knitting to carving. I also read a lot and have been learning how to play guitar.

In the future I hope to become an engineer (either mechanical or electrical).

I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity and I can't wait to meet and work with you all!

I've playing guitar since I was 5 and cello since I was 10. I was in a music school so I got musical formation lessons and orchestra too, that's why I'm a very musical person. I did horse riding for 12 years, but i needed to give up this year because all of the mental pressure and some injuries. However I did, at the same time, some other sports. As almost all of my friends know, I casually surf, that´s why the beach is my favorite place. So, if you don't know where I am, search there ahah!

I have some dreams... One of them is travel to Australia with my future kids and husband, and probably stay there working as a marine biologist, because the ocean (and its animals) is my passion.

Although, I'm not the most outgoing person initially, as I warm up I tend to become more talkative with others.

In my spare time, I am always listening to music and singing along. It's no surprise that I love attending concerts - there's something truly special about live performances. Writing is another passion of mine, as it allows me to express my feelings and thoughts.

In terms of sports, I took swimming lessons for several years, but I never participated in any competition.

I also have to mention that I'm keen on rollerblading and going on walks in my city. These activities help me unwind and recharge.

Travelling is my greatest passion. I love the excitement of discovering new places, experiencing different cultures and broadening my horizons.

To tell more about myself, I can say that I have a colorful personality with lots of interests.

I am a semi-professional volleyball player and I enjoy every minute I spend playing volleyball. I’m also interested in sailing and marine biology, and I have a D3 certification in sailing. Drawing is also one of my favorite activitys. I've been practicing my skills for a long time and it won't be wrong if I say that it's the only thing that makes me feel relaxed. I'm also interested in graphic design. I work on IT tasks for several clubs at my school, all voluntarily.

I enjoy working on designing projects and coding. I find coding, especially game development and project design, to be both fun and exciting. I have been learning and using programming languages such as; scratch, tinkercad, python ,javaScriptand some other coding and design programs for a long time.

To broaden my horizons, in addition to English, I've been learning different languages, including German and French. I enjoy exploring new languages and learning more about their cultures. Aside from languages, I've always been interested in subjects like science and physics. Although I haven’t decided on a specific career yet, I know I want to study a quantitative field.

In the near future I'd love to participate to ERASMUS with the other students from different countries, and improve my coding skills by the opportunity to meet with new students all around the world.

So, explaining a little more about me. Every year, I try to accomplish something new, so you will see that I have quite a big list of hobbies :)ahaha. Dancing is one of my passions, therefore, there is no surprise that I'm a dancer. This year I competed for the first time and I've won 1st place in the pole amateur junior national contest. I also love to communicate and that is why I do radio. In my spare time I like to do embroidery,  crochet, sew , sketch, draw, paint, make ceramics, write, and read. All these creative activities allow me to unwind, recharge and express myself. From my standpoint, Education is the base of our society. Therefore, without it, who are we? Topics such as lack of education, living conditions, war and refugees affect me a lot, which is why I became interested in politics from an early age. Nowadays, I try to know more, so one day, I can help out these people. For this reason I am in a political party and I dream to become a diplomat. I take great pleasure in traveling, however, unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to go abroad. That is one of the reasons why I’m so grateful for this opportunity.

I think I’m a very extroverted person who loves meeting and making new friends all the time. I consider myself funny, though my sister always says I’m annoying but I promise that’s not true!

In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, especially rap. Two of my favorite artists are Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar. I love hanging out with my friends to relax and talk about everything. When I’m at home, I enjoy playing video games with my friends (as any teenage boy does), but of course, only after finishing my studying.

I’m really excited for the Erasmus program to begin because experiencing this type of adventure has always been on my wishlist.
