"we would sit across from each other on a pair of high branches, our naked feet dangling". This quote suggests that they did not own shoes as Afghanistan is a non-wealthy country. And also this suggest that the city isn't advanced, creating regret for Amir as San Francisco is advanced. 

The writer is teaching us about how important friendship is by using Amir and Hassan's friendship as an example, and their mistakes and friendship is the richest and the brightest thing you can own.

This quote shows how loyal Hassan was by the word "Never" which shows the reader that Hassan would take the blame for all the mischievous ideas Amir would come up with. Amir feels guilty because he was always bossy towards Hassan and took him for granted as he would always cover for him. He would describe a situation where Amir talks Hassan into fling shooting walnuts at a one-eyed dog while Hassan didn't want to as 'he was deadly with his slingshot.'  This shows that Amir is having conflict as he having regrets because he forced someone into doing something that Hassan didn't want to do.
The Writer is trying to teach us that the way you treat someone will affect your relationships later on in life.

"Hassan never wanted to, but if I asked, really asked, he wouldn't deny me.Hassan never denied me anything." The word denied shows that Hassan was scared of Amir because he was bossy to him. Amir feels regret that he was not a good friend and now he can not fix the friendship between them because Hassan is in the passed.
