The first thing that surprised me I found out from the servants who were so talkative that day. All preparations start on Friday, when everyone is engaged with his own work. With regard to this part of the party, it really blew my mind. Being there can be compared to being at a Christmas fair somewhere in Europe when everything that surrounds you gleams and flashes. Tables are bursting with delicious food, bars are filled with all kinds of alcohol that you can imagine. Besides, the wonderful orchestra created a hilarious and sometimes romantic atmosphere. And of course, there I met a great number of illustrious people, our American stars. Seeing all that, I wanted to meet a well-known and such a prodigal host and interview him, because I had a lot of tricky and interesting questions for him. During the whole evening I tried to determine who Gatsby was, however his guests didn`t know what he looked like. An indivisible part of all their conversations was to collect new rumors about the host. People didn't know where he had got the fortune. If you will have an opportunity, it's worth visiting this event at once, but Gatsby is a sinister figure that creates a lot of secrets around himself. Perhaps the host is not Gatsby at all, we don't know…

 

When the gates of Mr. Gatsby's house open, the first thing you're likely to do is rush to find the sunglasses you've left at home. The glitter from every dress that passes by, the sparkle of lights that illuminate better than the sun and gaudily bright colors - the accurate description of this place. The incessant sounds of every musical instrument you can remember the names of, opera voices, conversations and laughter drowning out the orchestra. Hundreds of people are whispering in the garden, and the most resourceful rumors about the host of the party are in the air and are carried between small groups of guests.

 

The climax of the evening is the appearance on the marble steps of the hall of Mr. Gatsby himself, so well-groomed and handsome that the girls faint. But not in his arms. The most fascinating thing is that standing on these steps, he doesn’t recognize even half of his guests.

 

Amusement park. Can you come up with a better definition? I doubt.

A luxury mansion, located on the shore, hosts all kinds of guests from dusk till dawn. The whole garden is lit up with colored lights in amounts that would be enough to decorate a Christmas tree. On buffet tables, garnished with glistening hors-d’oeuvre, spiced baked hams crowded against salads of harlequin designs and pastry pigs and turkeys bewitched to a dark gold. In the main hall a bar with a real brass rail is set up and stocked with gins, liquors, and cordials. Music, dances, laughter, and champagne are the main guests at the event, though the human guests made everything to be noticeable as well – elegant men's suits, chic flowing dresses, and hats straight from the runway of the Chanel fashion house are rippling in the eyes.

And fortunately, you don’t have to be invited to this party to have a free pass. Gatsby, as a man of his generation, does not exclude anybody from his lively celebrations and welcomes all the attendants in equal manner – with wildly open arms. 

But despite the hospitality and breadth of celebrations that are arranged in this house, the host himself is modest and reserved - he can rarely be distinguished among all his cheerful and bright guests. Only occasionally will you see him standing on the veranda with a glass in his hand and a charming smile on his face, observing his party with fond expression. As mysterious as he is attractive - this man may be one of the main reasons to attend the party at his house.

You're probably wondering why parties on Long Island are so popular? The answer is simple. Here you can feel comfortable because the owner has taken care of everything. Every weekend a huge number of people gather here, they are all ready to have unrestrained fun.  A huge selection of snacks and alcohol, live music and a luxury villa that will not leave anyone indifferent, and if you suddenly get tired of the company of someone, you can always retire to the library and read one of thousands of books.  Everyone will be able to find something to do and have a great time. However, I don’t promise that you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the owner. Few people get it. 

In conclusion, I can say that if you have a chance to attend one of Gatsby's parties, don’t miss it!

At the very beginning of the report, I said that all of you know this man, but no one really knows him. He’s just a man named Gatsby. 

Rivers of champagne, gins and liquors are flowing in sync with orchestra music muted by the cloud of high pitched voices of guests. Cocktails are on demand as usual, but for those who need to grab a snack between toasts there is a groaning board with hams, hors d’oeuvre, pastry pigs and turkeys. Even a peaky eater will find something to their liking. 

The party is in the full swing. Lavish outfits, glowing faces, shining smiles and sparkling stars in the night sky complement each other leaving you no chance to find a better place for a night out. The main character of the night is, of course, the host, Mr. Gatsby. Always neatly dressed, this tanned rich man is number one bachelor in New York. Don’t miss the next party and your chance to meet Gatsby himself!

There is no one who doubts that Jay Gatsby holds best parties in New York (if not in America). We have visited the evening and now we are ready to open your eyes to reality!

First impression? Absolutely gorgeous!!! Wherever the eyes see, diamonds shine and light bulbs sparkle, the food seemed to be prepared by the most famous chefs in the world, the clothes of the guests seemed to have just left the fashion show, music and hilarity, and most importantly: wealth, wealth, wealth! It is everywhere. For the whole evening, I did not find a single thing under $100!

But no matter how strong the admiration for this triumph of prosperity is, we must admit that all this is not quite right really superficial. Are all these people really having so much fun with each other? It seems not quite so. The first are frankly bored, the fun of the second is warmed up by liters of drunk alcohol, and the third, with varying degrees of virtuosity, wear masks on their faces. 

But the main source of hypocrisy is the owner of the party himself, the angel of rich generosity or the demon of lechery, Mrs Gatsby. All evening we only heard rumors about him. And he himself appeared with a forced smile for only a few minutes (not at all like someone who experiences sincere pleasure and real emotions from the entertainment).

Attend Jay Gatsby's party for yourself and decide whether this is heaven or hell.

I was becoming intended to visit one of these parties more and more by tempting rumors and news. Being a canny and prompt I immediately managed to find a person who was so kind to take me there without any obligation to be acquainted with the host.

There is now way in describing all entertainments and ambience of the party. One has only to look at bar with a real brass rail was set up, and stocked with gins and liquors and with cordials so long forgotten that most of his female guests were too young to know one from another. Drinks were real. Absolutely real-had bottles and everything. Guests danced, swelling up with new arrivals dissolving and forming in the same breath, laughter was getting easier minute by minute. To tell the truth Mr.Gatsby Knows how to make a big party.

At the middle of the party I desperately tried to find anyone acquainted with Mr.Gatsby. However they were just as ignorant of any information about him as me, providing my exploration only with poor answers, uncertain gossips and courteous excuses. At the end of the day, I made a conclusion that the only thing left to do was-getting roaring drunk and failing my investigation. I am passing this challenge to the others.

This man has become widely known for hosting elite parties that take days of preparation: crates of fruit, astonishing decorations, lots of food and alcohol. There you can even listen to an orchestra playing a yellow cocktail music and the opera of voices. A great number of people of any kind put on their lavish outfits to visit such a glorious occasion. The costumes definitely deserve our attention! Men in elegant suits and women in evening gowns look as if they have just taken part in a fashion show. You don’t have to be invited to attend such a great affair – hundreds pf people just get into automobiles and head there from every corner of the city to have fun laughing, drinking, and dancing until dusk. You can also have a conversation with someone and get to know some gossip. There are lots of gossip, I can tell you! 

 

It is up to you, dear reader, whether to visit the next party at Gatsby’s mansion or not but I totally consider it worth spending your time!

The representation of our age, mysterious Jay Gatsby, who is rumored to be either a German spy, an American soldier or an Oxford man, is standing right at the gates of his enormous palace on Long Island Sound. He is somewhat around thirty, rough-necked, head perfectly trimmed — and his party HAS to be impeccable! Elaborateness of preparation is evident: bulks of fresh citruses, a bar providing with affluent flows of gins, liquors and cordials. You can even feel the breeze and freshness of the ocean jumping down from a tower on a raft or just by swimming with some new friends. The energy of the party is maintained by the sounds of a lively orchestra, never stopping its dizzy rhythms.

There is a sort of a fuss here — cocktails are passing by invisible streams to hundreds of hands, hazy air filled with light-gray smoke, Broadway star’s understudy hypnotizing you by the movement of her hands (sorceresses are welcome here, I guess), trombones and saxophones make you swing to the tune and catch on one of the glasses passing… Vicious circle of people and drinks, and incessant laughter, and small-talks, and female cries. Some weirdos crashing a car and people around… Drinks… And people… And drinks…

Let me start with the car which becomes an omnibus, bearing parties to and from the city. Imagine, how much gas it produces every weekend. Bangladesh is not even close. Then all these cocktails which require as many lemons and oranges as Brasilia and India taken together can grow. By my calculations, the world will be out of citruses by 2000. Such amount of lightening is definitely enough to lighten a football field, and noise produced my musicians and people in whereabouts is heard in the Mariana Trench. Here we come to the most sinister – people. Girls dance, men drink, everything is fine till the party isn’t in full swing. Then something supernatural happens. Men propose to women, women have fights with men, someone is trying to sober up in the library, another remembers everything about everyone, and all these is for no particular reason!

Aren’t such parties the most destructive things ever for the environment and people themselves? You do as you want, but I wash my hands of it.
