Raymond carver's blue collar life is often reflected in his stories such as one more thing and chef’s house. 

Raymond Carver is also known for his very engaged editor, Gordon Lish, who is known for not only pushing him to make his stories have even more powerful characteristics of minimalism. But also direct changes in how carvers stories were told causing this quote by carver himself “ if I have any standing or reputation or credibility in the world, I owe it to you.”.

Raymond Carver writing style has a very autobiographical style to it, often seen in his themes of middle class life. 

Raymond Carver often gave power inanimate objects using them in his narrative as for example as i clearly seen in the luggage from one more thing.

It is a subcategory of realism. The writers tend to write about the more mundane aspects of ordinary life in a spare, unadorned language. The setting and characters are portrayed in ordinary and unremarkable environments where the situation often reflects a lack of resources and inner desperation. The darker side of everyday life.
