I will say this feels somewhat "whitewashed". It centers around Mary and her family as they walk the Trail of Tears. It teaches the heartbreaking reality of the situation in an age appropriate way. It is also incredibly historically accurate as the writer is a member of the Cherokee Nation herself. While the story ends on a somewhat happy note I think the authors notes really tie the reality back to it.
