I chose to keep it simple so I could focus on the shading. After I shaded the outline of the bowls, to add a bit more color and detail I decided to make the circles into flowers of different color. 
Reflection- After I finished and looked back at the final project I felt it could have been more detailed (with pattern and designs). I really learned a lot while observing every detail in the roses and its petals to make it as accurate as possible. In the end, to add color I added a really light shading of blue, which was  the original color of the roses I was observing.
Reflection- I had some trouble getting an accurate size in the beginning of the rose drawings (bottom right column) as I tried drawing from the inside out. Eventually I tried making an outline and then filling the rose in, which evidently worked better in the end result.
Growth- I believe my thought process in this project, and challenges really displayed growth for me as an artist, because I had to step out of my comfort zone and aim for a more challenging art piece to draw. ]]> 2016-12-18 20:59:46 UTC https://padlet.com/avohra1/f6gdgk4z2jjq/wish/144242490 Growth Project- Description and Reflection avohra1 https://padlet.com/avohra1/f6gdgk4z2jjq/wish/144243146 Description- Initially my idea was to draw tree (half full and colorful and the other half old), and have a younger girl sitting on a tire swing on the colorful side, while an older girl sat on the old side on a bigger swing. Once I drew the tree on newspaper, many people got the idea that it was growth of knowledge. Which I felt had a stronger concept and overall message. Therefore I chose to show a man thinking (thought bubble shows his brain), and the tree displayed everything going on in the mind, showing the growth of the growth process in general. 
Reflection- I believe the idea and art work were both strong. I also agree that the tree could have been drawn darker or colored so the detail behind the process could have been appreciated and seen better.

I chose blue to reflect on the plain expression on my face. For the disturbance in the piece I added shaped and blocks of color in some areas instead of fully blending all the oil pastel. In the background I did something similar, but changed the color to add a contrast.
Reflection/ growth- I believe this is definitely one of my best pieces of the year and shows tremendous growth. I also learned in this unit that portraits is actually one of my strengths which I didn't believe in the beginning of the year. I also noticed growth in the way I used the oil pastel, and my comfort in experimenting new things with them.
Color- My color choice was blue and peach. The blue represents a calm, and clear environment, which relates to my face in this photo. It also displays metal clarity. The peach was chosen as a light contrast.  What is the most significant way you have grown as an artist? What artistic struggles did you learn from? -  I believe the most significant way I have grown as an artist is learning to reflect and acknowledge where I can still improve. I learnt from the beginning of the year that my projects and creativity lacked detail and I was able to incorporate that in my last project (geometric shapes, and colors). Therefore I also learned from my struggles and improved.

I chose to use the same design and colors as they made the actual figures pop well in contrast. I chose this specific piece because the overall photo was very aesthetic and a more realistic take for a figurative painting which I have never done before. I believe throughout the whole composition I was most successful in my recreation of the buildings and architecture, and working with the details included in that. Throughout the semester I have spent more time working on paintings using a wide range from acrylics to watercolors. I feel like though this my art shows growth in the advancement in my painting skills. 
Artistics struggles- I believe my greatest struggle this semester was learning to use new materials and mediums confidently and experimenting along with taking risks with my projects. I believe this worked the best in my first project (girl sitting in the rain) and last project (figurative). I also think one of my struggles early on in the year was figurative art and I spend a lot of time working on different areas of the category throughout the year.
